Luol Deng isn't an impact player in the NBA. He belongs in basketball Siberia, aka Sacramento, Memphis, Clippers etc... He will be left alone, nobody will expect things from him, all will be well.

Problem is that he regressed from what he was a few years ago so it's kind of hard to see him getting better.

Well he's been injured the past 3 seasons. Wrist, leg, back, ankle. Everything. I think if he can remain healthy, we'll see some good improvement. He was playing pretty well before his injury in March. If he can't get healthy, then he is what he is.
