June 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Kevin Goldstein Kevin_Goldstein Sources indicate that Stetson Allie's price tag is $3 million 6 minutes ago via TweetDeck I would imagine that Wilsons is similar, anybody know for sure? We could sure use a power hitting OF prospect. There is a distinct lack of talent in the system, especially at the lower levels. I get spoiled here watching the Angels A team that trots out 5 first round picks, one of whom appears to be better than anyone in the Sox system.
June 8, 201015 yr Just out of curiosity, how do you guys know so much about these prospects? I love baseball and try to follow it a little in the minors, I get most of my info from you guys on that. :-) But do you guys just read BA and other sites about these draftees?
June 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:49 AM) Give me A.J. Cole. Very projectable high school righty. Already got three solid pitches that project as above-average pitches in the majors. Throws gas. He could be a front-line starter if all goes right, or back-end weapon in a worst-case scenario. Sure, what would it take to buy him out of college though? Top 10 money?
June 8, 201015 yr I like Zach Alvord too. He has a lot of Beckham in him. Edited June 8, 201015 yr by Thunderbolt
June 8, 201015 yr Jonathan Mayo JonathanMayoB3 Day 2 of the #mlbdraft will start with the Nationals taking USD lefty Sammy Solis. 3 minutes ago via OpenBeak Nuts
June 8, 201015 yr Solis is a good arm, but i didn't see him lasting to 63 anyway. Let's hope the draft continues in a pitching heavy direction leaving guys like Wilson and Alvord to at least give Laumann and KW a pause.
June 8, 201015 yr I hope the Sox get a bat at 63. Take a chance on somebody. Then go heavy on arms the rest of the first 10 rounds.
June 8, 201015 yr I think Paxton would be pretty decent pick, first round talent, no leverage to use in not signing, and could move pretty quickly possibly making the rotation in mid 2011 or the beginning of 2012. Then in the third round you roll the dice on a guy with signability concerns. Not sure Paxton will still be on the board, but he is a pretty safe pick for a second round guy at best he is a mid-rotation guy at worst a LH set up man.

June 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) Boras client? I think so, but he really doesn't have that much leverage after not signing with the Jays, and not lighting it up in Independent Ball.
June 8, 201015 yr Rumor is the Ozney will be the 2nd round pick (not really, but this worked well for the first round!)
June 8, 201015 yr Pirates grab Alllie. He and Tallion are going to be a great shot in the arm for that system. Edited June 8, 201015 yr by Thunderbolt
June 8, 201015 yr Eiber to the Royals. They have him as a pitcher. Edited June 8, 201015 yr by Thunderbolt
June 8, 201015 yr Wow, these mlb.com guys need to just step out. The picks are too fast to analyze between picks.
June 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) Pirates grab Alllie. He and Tallion are going to be a great shot in the arm for that system. That teams looks to be FINALLY headed in the right direction.
June 8, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) That teams looks to be FINALLY headed in the right direction. No doubt. They should be fun to watch in the future.
