I'm pretty sure they came back from their deficits late in the season. And didn't even wind up in 1st.

The 2007 Rockies won 21 of 22 games in September and made the playoffs, although I think it was as a wild card team.

The Rockies DID win 21 of 22 - they won 14 of 15 to take the Wild Card - then won their first 7 playoff games before being swept by PEDSox.

This team has a lot more similarities to 1983 than 2005. Pitching not as good as '83, however...

The 2010 Sox hit 100 HR in the first half, with a .744 OPS. The 2005 Sox were first in the league with 91 SB in the first half at a 72% clip. The 2010 sox are 3rd in the league with 80 steals at a terrible 65% clip.

Pretty sure Bernstein said it was the 1973 Cardinals. They were like 11 games back and took over first by the All Star break. I think they also went 25-5. In any event, that team finished 81-81. So...probably best not to talk about it.
