I wonder if there's anything left? He's a lefty power bat that could be had for almost nothing.

Are we that desperate? I doubt he'd even be an upgrade from Kotsay.

Hasn't played all year. Hip operated on twice since last major league AB. If he signed a minor league deal and went to Charlotte to get ready, I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but expecting anything out of him is a reach.

If I remember correctly, he's turned down a trade to the Sox in the past. KW always gets his player eventually.

Personally I'd prefere Barry Bonds.

Rather have Dye.

I don't recall exactly when it was, but I do recall that the Sox were well out of the playoff picture when he turned the trade down. I'm pretty sure it was late in 2004 after the wheels had fallen completely off the bus.

Well it's not like he has 30 MLB teams vying for his services this time around. I bet he'd be ecstatic if the Sox offered him a minor league deal right now.

There's a reason he could be had for pretty much nothing.

Delgado is Bo Jackson, 17 years later?

Rosenthal saying we are interested in Delgado. Why?!

Because even if he's only operating on 1 hip, he's still not worse than Kotsay.

If it means getting rid of Kotsay, yes.

At this point in his career I'd expect Kotsay-like numbers.

It's hard to have a .640 OPS. It really is.

Just ask Dan Haren.

Dan Haren was killing the ball, he had a .390 something wOBA.

I heard on Mulley and Hanley this morning that Delgado not only wants to play for a contending team, but he wants guaranteed playing time too.

I'm not sure how you guarantee playing time to a guy who might not be able to swing a bat any more.

fine with me, take over kotsay as soon as you can:)

We could guarantee that he would play some time...

Consider me in favor of this motion.

Any realistic chance he can even be productive at this point?? He has been off for how long now?

Per Mark Gonzalez:

Guillen said KW hasn't spoken to him about C Delgado, surprised to even hear his name

He'd be lucky to play for a team that's out of it, let alone a contender. He's got to show he can hit in the minors and is ready before a team will or should commit to him.
