If I had to vote which way I was leaning more towards the most...optimistic about this Whitesox team or...living a gay lifestyle, I would have to go with the gay lifestyle.

I can't help but believe that the reason for that consistency is related to the utter lack of drama in and around their clubhouse and front office. They start, stay and end up focused on one thing only--playing baseball to win.

 

No, media brouhaha, no reality shows, no Twitter bs, nothing but fundamental baseball.

 

And don't tell me it's a function of the smaller market; the Favre sideshow shows the Twin Cities are as susceptible to those distractions as anyone.

I think the Twins have more talent than some think. But, you're right that they play much better baseball than the Sox do, and the Sox aren't lacking in the talent category. I believe the Twins are just a better team.

You could make an island the size of an NFL stadium more important than the majority of places in the world as long as an NFL stadium is on that island.

Yeah but since when did we get the ability to sweep them? Odds are we won't so we better be within a game or 2 by that point.

Which amazingly is still possible. We're in long shot territory now, but that's the next check point in my mind - how far back are we when that series starts? 3 or less and we still have a decent shot. 6 or more and forget it. In between is long shot.

 

I hope every season that the team is no more than 5 games back by September 1. That's still striking distance, especially with 3 left against the leader. Although depressing, four consecutive one-run road losses don't change that for me.

The Sox have to play much better baseball starting tomorrow. But, that alone won't get the job done. They will have to rely on some other teams beating the Twins and/or the Twins falling apart. One would think that the Twins can't keep up their pace (the Sox didn't after a while). The question is whether it will be too late when and if they falter.

The problem is that the Twins are having their run against AL teams whereas we did it against primarily NL teams. Just look at our division and league record. Can we all of a sudden turn that around? Maybe but it's not likely and we have no more NL teams on the schedule to beat up on.

If the White Sox gain 1 game on the Twins in every 7 games they play, they will force a tie breaker. The key is they can not afford to go beyond 5 games back. The Twins are bound to come back to Earth eventually. Hopefully when they do, they will hit hard times kind of like how we did after our hot streak.

 

The fact of the matter is. Its not over yet. Not even close. Obviously if we can continue to play ball like this we are in BIG trouble. But I truly believe this team has one more serious run in them. Call me peter positive but this team seems to come back to life when they are on the verge of extinction. I think Kenny Williams is going to add to the pen AND add a significant bat to the lineup. He knows he has to at this point. All arrows are pointed toward Manny Ramirez. If that happens, it will be a lethal injection to a struggling lineup.
