December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Thanks for that, I would have never thought of him ever again if you had not posted that LOL. Sorry... yea, he was pretty awful. But at least he netted the Sox a decent utility IFer in Alex Cintron.
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) I didn't see this posted elsewhere, but... former Sox minor leaguer Jeff Bajenaru is now a pitching coach for the Diamondbacks. http://espn.go.com/mlb/transactions Good for him. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever come in contact with. I hope it is the beginning of big things for him and his family.
December 16, 201015 yr Washington/Oakland have a deal in principal for Josh Willingham for two young players, one of whom has major league experience. http://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/15471363850502144
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) http://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/15471363850502144 I'd like to see what prospects the Nationals are looking at here. Willingham has enough talent to have these revamped A's looking pretty good.
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) I'd like to see what prospects the Nationals are looking at here. Willingham has enough talent to have these revamped A's looking pretty good. Agreed. Oakland has managed to snag two of the guys I wanted the Sox to try and snag (DeJesus and Willingham).
December 16, 201015 yr Looks like it's a done deal at 2 yrs $12M. Edited December 16, 201015 yr by BigSqwert
December 16, 201015 yr Red Sox are trying to trade Papelbon somewhere, and I assume Bard or Jenks would be their closer.
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) Heard on the Score that Maggs is staying in Detroit for 1 yr $10M. Wow, I think they are spending money just to spend it at this point. I can't imagine anyone was willing to go close to that number besides Detroit.
December 16, 201015 yr A's acquired Willingham, per MLB trade rumors for Henry Rodriguez (who's got a hell of an arm) and OF Corey Brown.
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) A's acquired Willingham, per MLB trade rumors for Henry Rodriguez (who's got a hell of an arm) and OF Corey Brown. I thought you meant the old Henry Rodriguez, the one who hit lots of homers and was sponsored by "O Henry" Bars, haha. Blast to the past. But the Rodriguez you refer to has one live arm.
December 16, 201015 yr Is Henry Rodriguez the guy that pitched in the Future's Game a couple years back and threw 98-100?
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (TomPickle @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Is Henry Rodriguez the guy that pitched in the Future's Game a couple years back and threw 98-100? I'm not sure as to the future's game reference, but he can certainly throw 100.
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) A's acquired Willingham, per MLB trade rumors for Henry Rodriguez (who's got a hell of an arm) and OF Corey Brown. Holy s***. Great move for both teams. The A's are a Beltre signing away from legitimately competing in that division. Of course, I can't blame them if they refuse to go 5 years. 3 years tops with a club option is the most I'd go. Edited December 16, 201015 yr by Jordan4life
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) I think Gio has a break out season for the A's. 15-9 record and 3.23 ERA last year in 200 innings don't count as a breakout season? Then what does?
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) 15-9 record and 3.23 ERA last year in 200 innings don't count as a breakout season? Then what does? And yet he doesn't get the pub that he deserved. I think he'll be a 20 game winner and enter the discussion as one of the best LH pitchers in the game, one who possesses THE best curve.
December 16, 201015 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) And yet he doesn't get the pub that he deserved. I think he'll be a 20 game winner and enter the discussion as one of the best LH pitchers in the game, one who possesses THE best curve. He's in Oakland. No one sees him pitch.
December 17, 201015 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) And yet he doesn't get the pub that he deserved. I think he'll be a 20 game winner and enter the discussion as one of the best LH pitchers in the game, one who possesses THE best curve. I really like the A's in general. They've got an excellent staff and have really upgraded their lineup with DeJesus, Matsui and Willingham. Rodriguez has an electric arm but they've got a bevy of quality relief pitchers and then you've got our very own DLS waiting in the wings.
December 17, 201015 yr Author Rockies acquire White Sox killer Jose Morales for some left handed pitcher.
December 17, 201015 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) He's in Oakland. No one sees him pitch. true, but don't you think you hear more about Braden and Cahill?
December 17, 201015 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) true, but don't you think you hear more about Braden and Cahill? Braden only because of the perfect game (his grandma is annoying as f***) and mound-gate with pay-rod. Treveor Cahill is pretty unknown to the casual fan.
December 17, 201015 yr Wow Billy Beane is absolutely enamored with OBP. Between DeJesus/Barton/Willingham they should have an overall OBP pushing 400! OBP is great, but when you're relying on Matsui as your main power source. I'm afraid all that hard work has gone to waste. If they only had a legit slugging threat... Regardless Im always happy to see Oakland do well, their teams/players are always fun to watch.
