February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) Lots of veterans in New York hated his attitude. He had some issues with the law a few years back as well. I gave his Wikipedia page a quick read. It mentioned that the other players didn't like that he high-fived some fans on his way back into the field after hitting a big home run, and that it caused some of the veterans to give him s*** for it. Sounds pretty weak to me.

Sounds pretty weak to me. From what I remember of that story the kid just looked pumped after that HR. It looked like it was all in good fun but you know how some traditionalists take things sometimes (and Im more baseball traditional when it comes to actions too, but the whole situation looked harmless on the field).

(Sounds kinda like Edwin Jackson, lol)

February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) I hope he gets a haircut and mashes all season while providing all star caliber defense. What if he mashes all season & plays great D, but doesn't cut his hair? Will you still be happy?

February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) I hope he gets a haircut What are you a drill sergeant or something?
February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) The combination of baggage and a career .723 OPS. Either the "baggage" is keeping his OPS at .723 or he's just not as talented as everyone hypes him up to be.

He could totally be just as talented as the hype and be one of the guys who never learned how to play up to his talent level.
February 3, 201115 yr I hope they tell him he's not wearing 85, and take out the dreds. This kid needs to be knocked down a few pegs.

February 3, 201115 yr Its a lottery ticket. If it works you win, if it doesn't, you throw it away and buy another.
February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) Bears meatheads will adore this guy. Well, they do need a #1 WR this offseason...and heck, if they go to replacement players, he's got as good of a shot there as he does of taking over LF.
February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Don't know if this was posted. Milledge in winter ball being...him. See post #5 of this thread...

I thought I read somewhere that he was a below average defender. Is he reported to play plus defense? Edited February 3, 201115 yr by South Side Fireworks Man
February 3, 201115 yr I really wish that we could find some way to get rid of Mark Teahen. Edited February 3, 201115 yr by balfanman

I read the same thing... below average defense. But he seems to have the physical tools. Maybe he just needs coaching.
February 3, 201115 yr QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) I thought I read somewhere that he was a below average defender. Is he reported to play plus defense? Yeah, Fangraphs seems to think he is an average LF and RF, but pretty bad in CF. Seems like it will be up to Rios, Pierre, and Lillibridge to man CF (or does Milledge making the team mean Lillibridge is gone?)
