September 1, 201114 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Because certain people actually understand how payroll and contracts work? I know how payroll works. I would rather pay guys who actually give a f*** like Quentin and actually produce over hacks like Peavy, Dunn and Rios. It's not my fault our GM acquired those wastes of money. There is absolutely no reason for the hatred on Quentin on this site. By all accounts he's a gamer and has good stats! Edited September 1, 201114 yr by greg775

September 1, 201114 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:29 AM) So in other words, you don't understand. So we can't afford Quentin, so we'll go with DeAza, Rios and Tank. Well Rios ruins our team's chances in that scenario and along with Dunn n Jake we have a .500 team or a few games below again next year just like this year. So I do get it.

Well, if we can't change the players...why not change the manager and coaching staff and see if we can find a combination that gets through to those guys? Otherwise we're just sitting there pouting.

That's what Jerry surely will do. Hopefully they wake up. 2.) I realize nobody will take Peavy and Dunn and Rios. They are so bad no team will take them and their bloated contracts. What I'm saying is it's a damn shame we can't keep Mark and Quentin because of money when those 3 wastes of space are making so much. I can understand the economics without thinking it is sad and bulls***.
September 1, 201114 yr September 13th is Roger Bossard bobblehead day. Seriously, I might look for one of those on ebay on the 14th.
September 1, 201114 yr Author QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) No mention of September call-ups anywhere? Nothing yet. But with the off day, they have some extra time. They could even play their games today before heading to Chicago tonight or tomorrow.

September 1, 201114 yr From Jayson Stark's ESPN article: "How many players in the history of the American League have had 100 more strikeouts than hits in a season? Uh, none, of course. And the only guy to do it in any league was Mark Reynolds (211-99) last year in Arizona. So this is a huge September for Dunn -- no matter how much he does (or doesn't) play." Dunn has 157 K's and only 60 hits.
