ST: 3/8 vs Rockies

Nice to read that some of the youngsters are doing well. But shades of Brian Anderson and Josh Fields owning the preseason always lurk.

What is the score?

9-5 good guys.

What to do with Dayan Viciedo. We have him controlled for 3 more years following this one? We need to have him on the big club.

I think we only have him for 2 years after this one.

Sorry, for those not watching, Dayan just gunned a runner down at home from RF

Viciedo GUNS the runner out trying to go home! Just a GREAT throw on a 1-hop to the catch, perfectly on line and strong. Good god, this kid has to make the team at this point.

DAYMAN! Another gundown from right field!

Viciedo!!!

M-V-P! M-V-P!

I think he'd be one of the top 10 or 15 prospects overall if he had a set position.

Viciedo turns 22 on Thursday. 50 bucks says Melton says he's 21 the rest of spring training.

Dolsi is garbage.

But Ozzie said he has to be fair to Teahen.

Yeah but we are ALL IN, therefor we don't have time for Viciedo to develop in the minor leagues when he can help the team this year.

Sweet mother of god if he could handle third base that line-up would be looking sweet. The left side of the infield could be called the Cuban Missle Crisis or Little Havana.

We have him under contract for 2 more years after this one.

However, if he makes the big league squad, he simply starts off like any rookie; he is under the Sox's control as a pre-arbitration player for several years, just under a rookie contract. The Sox have ~6 years of MLB pre-arb and arb-eligible years for him depending on how much time he spends in the big leagues this year.

The only way he is not on the Sox in 3 years is if he is bad enough that the Sox don't want him and they grant him his release. Otherwise, we control~6 years of his MLB rights.

Does anybody else think of this guy when they say Stefan Gartrell's name?

I personally dont think he needs regular playing time in AAA, I think he fits in at 3B, 1B, RF and LF and can play a few days a week.

Personally, I think he needs a good amount of time in the outfield before we depend on him there at the ML level

Jaleal White?

Stefan Urquelle!

But yes.

Have Viciedo's hits come against major league pitchers?

Well, he got 2 hits off Felipe Paulino today, he is a major leaguer. His 3rd hit was off of Eric Stults, another major leaguer.

He got a double off of Joe Martinez. He has 50 career innings, but is more of a AAAA guy I think. Got a hit off Jensen Lewis, who is a major leaguer. Another hit off of Jess Todd, who has 28 career innings.

Those are from the past 2 games, so yeah, most hits were off of major league pitchers.
