April 10, 201115 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) Swishers chest was at the base. He was plenty close. That is fine in baseball in the US. However in Japan they wouldn't like that play. They slide to the bag. The "as long as his hand can reach the bag, it's ok" is a distinctly US version of baseball. I don't have a problem with it but I understand why the player might because he wouldn't expect it.

"I'm used to the Japanese rules so it's the slider's fault" isn't exactly a quality defense.

That had to come up during spring training, right?
April 11, 201115 yr Gardy said that they had been working with Nishi all spring with turning the double play
April 11, 201115 yr Slide was just fine. Gardy and even Nishioka said as much. Swish said he felt terrible, not too much to complain about there.
April 12, 201115 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) 4-6 weeks. All things considered, not that bad. How the f*** do you break your leg and miss just over a month? Twins luck, man...
