Nishioka with a broken leg

#mlb #Twins Tough break for Twins 2B Nishioka, who reportedly suffers broken leg. on Nick Swisher's hard slide, which was clean, Twins say.

This is actually a plus to the whole "it's our year" thing. Sucks for him, though.

Pretty much this. He was already going through a big time transition period and this is going to delay that even further.

slides into 2nd strike the twins again. That's a shame, I was actually looking forward to watching this guy play. Hope he heals soon.

At least the Nick Swisher trade paid off for something.... Too early?

there's such a difference between baseball in Japan and the U.S. Remember how Iguchi had to learn that?

I hope he heals entirely, but I hope it takes forever.

With our luck, and the way things usually happen for the Twins, they'll dig out some guy with a .687 OPS in AA and he'll post a .800 OPS as this guy's replacement, while playing gold glove caliber defense.

Oh, obviously.

Matt Tolbert? Trevor Plouffe?

Luke Hughes is being called up...but no one is quite sure what the lineup will look like. Hughes is a guy who can crush a fastball, but cant hit a curve.

What a whiner. I just saw the video and it was a clean, hard slide and he was well within reach of the bag. The second baseman just didn't get out of the way in time.

Nothing out of line about that slide at all. The Twins even said as much.

Dude doesn't really understand the finer points of baseball, apparently. "He's not even going for the base! Waaaah" well kiddo, you don't need to go directly for the base so long as you can touch it. "But he slid in late!" that's kind of the point, to keep the middle infielder from seeing 1B for as long as possible and then coming in to break up the play. He did a pretty damn good job of it considering Teix was safe.

Listen to Skippy Bayless whine about it too:

I don't know what's more ridiculous: Bayless' idiotic whining or his dye job. How can anyone channeling Heat Miser expect to be taken seriously?

And Swisher got plenty of the base.

His legs werent really close to the base at all, but I wouldn't really go to the point saying it was dirty.

Slide wasn't dirty at all, he was trying to break it up and Nishioka used poor footwork, unfortunate outcome for him

Swishers chest was at the base. He was plenty close.

Baseball is not a contact sport, so any play that results in this kind of injury probably has someone at fault. Was it the 2nd baseman or the player sliding?
