Another home run for Trayce. He's up to 4 now in 46 AB.

although it's still early and he only has 50 ab's this season his walk/K per AB look better so far in addition to his growing power output.

Absolutely, he's so far away that slow progress is fine. I haven't seen a red flag from him yet. Obviously, he's striking out a ton, but as long as he shows gradual year-to-year improvement he's still one of the best prospects in the system. Last year he showed a big power surge and dropped the K rate a bit. This year he's still showing the power, the K rate is again a bit lower and the walk rate is higher. We're still a month or so away from being able to make a real judgment on his progress this year, but it's encouraging that he is improving in the areas he needs to.

Edit: Bomb #2 on the night for Trayce. Love it.

Good to hear.

Hopefully his understanding of the game is starting to catch up with his raw talent, that'd be a huge boost to this system, no doubt.

Yeah. I can't remember a high upside hitter in the system like him. I like him better than Mitchell. Do we have to go as far back as Borchard for a talent like that? Maybe Sweeney I guess.

I'll save Ace the trouble. Jeremy Reed.

I'd say Borchard. Sweeney had a gorgeous swing but I don't think his upside was ever seen as ridiculously high.

Even when Reed was raking he was never profiled as a high upside type guy. In those years he was most often compared to Mark Kotsay.

You should know that I never liked Reed and I think he's terrible.

I can honestly say that I don't remember that. Guess your Reed hatred never stuck with me.

Yeah, Reed isn't in that category. Sweeney was higher upside than Reed and had some gaudy scouting reports. Scouts are more mixed on Thompson, but pure upside yeah I think you have to go back to Borchard. Let's hope he gets there (there being the upside, not Borchard lol).

Matt Zaleski had a good night.

8 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K

Unfortunately he is 29 and a non-prospect, but his is dominating this season in AA.

20 1/3 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 18 K, 0.44 ERA, 0.44 WHIP, 9 K/BB

2/4 with 2 2B for Mitchell.

Yeah, I put this on the FS twitter, but he's had a few good games in a row.

Jared Mitchell warming a bit. 5-12, 4 2B, BB, 2 K in last 3 games after a 5-31 start.

Sweeney for sure. His power though never caught up with his good contact rate. I was never a fan of Borchard though. I loved Trayce since he was drafted (probably second to fathom who was his biggest fan) and I still think he's the best in the system as far as potential. (though I'm sure some would argue Viciedo) Hopefully he hits like his oozing tools suggest.

I can't take credit for Trayce. I'm a bigger fan of his brother as a basketball prospect. Good to see Mitchell picking it up, but disappointing to see Danks struggling so much.

I'm not surprised to see Danks struggling. Might take a while to adapt to his new timing mechanism and swing. Hard to overcome old habits under game situations.

I think (and hope) that we'll see gradual improvement over the course of the summer.

The worry is...so far, he's striking out at the same rate as last year.

he is a prospect non grata in my eyes until he either starts hitting for power like Adam Dunn, or quits striking out like Adam Dunn.
