Sad, gets thrown out by vmart

That was truly a moronic caught stealing

Wow, what a horrible jump that was. He didn't start moving until Penny's leg was on its way back down.

i understand the steal since Alexei ground into DP so much... no blame on Ozzie here just poor execution on Juan's part

Yep, that was simply a terrible jump by Pierre on that play. He needs to be smarter there and just stay if he knows he got such a bad jump.

With any other P/C combo, he spins the wheels and goes back there. He had to know how bad his jump was, but probably assumed even with a jump that cost him at least a couple strides that he'd be able to get in there off Penny/Vmart

What did Juan do now? Another CS? Did Ozzie send his ass?

For a guy that's been stealing bases his entire career, how does he just forget how to do it right? Has he really lost that much speed?

A guy like Juan should steal off that combo there. He just isn't allowed to wait till release to start running.

Even when Jake Peavy tries to throw a 3-0 pitch down the middle of the plate, it cuts hard away from the LH batter and winds up on the outside corner.

I think he just had the green light, he went on first pitch, and frankly, this is a combination where he should be able to steal on them.

Juan's speed was fine on that...only reason it was close. He probably wasn't more than 5 steps off of first by the time VMart caught the ball.

Yes

I love watching Jake Peavy pitch. I have basically the same repertoire minus 8-10 mph. I learn so much watching him.

I don't understand running there with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Well I understand Ozzie's thinking there. Alexei has hit into a a lot of DP's. You have a pitcher and catcher who don't exactly strike fear into a base runners heart. But terrible jump/read by Pierre .

It was a smart call there, as you have to assume Juan can steal that base against that combination. Penny does throw a lot of ground balls, so Alexei was a 5-4-3 candidate.

Meanwhile: He gawn.

Fellas, that's what an ace looks like.

Jake dealing...

We need to make Penny pay for being all over the place

We saw that last night too, just wearing the opposite uniform.

Yes we did. Different method, same results.

Smart call does not equal smart results if your jump is worthless.

Juan Pierre needs to be able to steal that base. That is all.
