November 29, 201114 yr Author QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Dracula/Vlad the Impaler and Dr. Szell/Josef Mengele? Those two are a re-imagining of a real life people. Goethe was Goethe.
November 29, 201114 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Those two are a re-imagining of a real life people. Goethe was Goethe. True, but I'm sure the character was re-imagined to an extent. I'm just grasping at straws here!
November 29, 201114 yr I just realized that my #3 is also a real life person, and a few of my others as well. I know for a fact that #3 is very much sensationalized, though.
November 29, 201114 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Technically, Goethe shouldn't have counted because he was a real person. Thats why I didnt put him on my list. Schindlers List is one of my favorite movies

November 29, 201114 yr QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Only two votes for Dr. Szell? I'm disappointed in 14 of you. I'm disappointed in me, too, considering I'm good for an "Is it safe?" reference about once a month or so.
November 30, 201114 yr Sucks that there wasn't time for a December list cause I thought of a good list idea that I don't think we've done: Best Portrayals of Santa Claus in film/TV
November 30, 201114 yr I want it known that I voted for Captain Hook solely for Dustin Hoffman's portrayal.
November 30, 201114 yr I thought I had Warden Norton on my list, but I must have made a last minute change I also voted for Plainview. I hoped he would have finished higher than an expected appearance by Anton Chugar. I liked There Will Be Blood more than No Country for Old Men, and should have won best picture.
November 30, 201114 yr Cruella De Ville and Big Brother my first to show up. I wasn't expecting either one. Glad to see at least one other person remembered them
November 30, 201114 yr I have another Daniel Day-Lewis villain on my list rather than Plainview. And the more I see the movie, the more overrated the character of Anton Chigurh is. Tom Wilkinson should have run away with the Oscar that year for Michael Clayton.
November 30, 201114 yr QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Cruella De Ville and Big Brother my first to show up. I wasn't expecting either one. Glad to see at least one other person remembered them Knucks on Cruella. Knucks to Milkman for matching my Samuel Norton nomination and for Hook, who I put 12.
November 30, 201114 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Knucks on Cruella. Knucks to Milkman for matching my Samuel Norton nomination and for Hook, who I put 12. My taste in everything is so eclectic that I have the top vote for different characters about ten times on each of these lists. I don't even know how it's possible.
November 30, 201114 yr QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I have another Daniel Day-Lewis villain on my list rather than Plainview, Ditto. Go figure.
December 1, 201114 yr I forgot about Anton from No Country For Old Men. That guy had absolutely no remorse. He was the perfect villian.
December 1, 201114 yr QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) I forgot about Anton from No Country For Old Men. That guy had absolutely no remorse. He was the perfect villian. Bleh. There are a thousand emotionless killer villains. He just stole Two Face's coin gimmick and added a woman's haircut.
December 1, 201114 yr Wicked Witch of the West is an interesting entry. I've heard it argued that she's hardly a villain at all. Dorothy shows up, kills her sister, steals the shoes, then comes after her at the Wizard's demand. The version told in Wicked is also pretty cool, even if you just read a plot summary, rather than the book/musical: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicked:_The_L...tch_of_the_West

The background story invented to go with the Wizard story was soooo well done. [turnsinmancard]

She's never been to Broadway and i've heard it has a good story to it.

The story line is grade A, even if you have to sit through a musical to get it. I would go back with the wife if it were in Chicago again. I think the only other musical I ever said that to was Tommy.
December 1, 201114 yr I never thought about it before, but what the hell is Gozer wearing? QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) Bleh. There are a thousand emotionless killer villains. He just stole Two Face's coin gimmick and added a woman's haircut. I agree. It's another reason why I think others deserved the Oscar over Javier Bardem. I don't think it takes much acting talent to portray an emotionless killer. It's like the exact opposite of range.

I did exactly that two years ago at Christmas, though not at Broadway. I don't really have any interest in musicals and the music itself wasn't my style, but the story kept my attention. A lot of quirky origin stories for Oz characters and little twists.
