As I understand it, it is actually predictive text, he is clicking letters until the correct ones pop up. In a TED Talk it took him 7.5 minutes to complete an answer live. Still cool, but less amazing to me.

January 11, 201214 yr Space and our origins have always fascinated me. I've read and re-read all of Hawking's books. Excellent stuff. Hope he sticks around a bit longer.
January 14, 201214 yr It would have to be so damn tedious and slow to articulate any kind of thought that it would be near maddening, especially if you could remember a time in which you could simply speak or type with your fingers.
