I think the replacement refs are being told to troll the s*** out of the NFL by the real refs so that a deal gets done sooner.

Also, you have to remember the Giants were only 9-7 last year and barely made the playoffs in a weaker division. They figured it out come playoff time, but that doesn't mean they will through the regular season this year.
