Cuse was playing zone, double screen isnt going to be that effective as they wont come out in man at all. That being said, the best play would have used Taylor as a decoy, because he likely would have had 2 guys focusing on him, fake the pass to him and have a guy hopefully cut behind an over aggressive Syracuse defense.

At the beginning of the year I was concerned this team wouldnt make the NCAA tournament, they came 2 inches from the Elite 8. Syracuse is a good team, that made shots. Wisconsin didnt play bad, just some days you lose.

Jordan Taylor earned that play over 4 years.

Fair enough, but they were rotating the top of the zone to jam him up pretty tight...like you said, there had to be someone more open than him there, but it's tough to take the ball out of his hands on the last shot of the game.

Rex,

I agree you should go earlier especially in college where you cant advance the ball so even 5 seconds is a pretty rough play. I wish they would have gone between 7-10 seconds left, maybe get an offensive rebound against the zone for some sloppy put back.

That being said, Wisconsin won a lot of games the last 4 years because Taylor made shots like that. He took the shot, it was short. In that situation youd rather be strong.

Just awful by Ryan not use a timeout at the end

If Ryan calls a time out and some how they dont even get a shot, or Taylor doesnt touch the ball, its a worse outcome. Jordan Taylor had the ball, they lost with their best.

And Bo Ryan's explanation was that he didnt want to leave an inbounder with no timeouts.

You keep saying this, but that wasn't even a true "in the offense" shot he got off. Especially with how whistle happy the refs got in the final two minutes of that game, it was ridiculous of Taylor to have to attempt that shot with 15 seconds remaining when the possession started.

I wish they got a better shot, but they got a shot, they could have won. Its the play that ended the season, but there were thousands of other ones that got it to that point. Taylor should have made a better more decisive decision, but he didnt, hes been a hell of a player.

Lenzelle doing work

After watching the Wisconsin play a few times, the actual breakdown came when Rob Wilson got his man in the air and didnt take it towards the basket. By passing back to Taylor there were a bunch of Syracuse players right there, had he gone to the rim it would have opened the whole play up.

Its going to be a long wait until next year.

What's Greg Paulus' connection with OSU? Played bball at Duke, football at Syracuse. Trying to participate in every major conference?

The last possession there was crap. Throw orange and blue jerseys on them and it would have looked really familiar.

Poor coaching, poor decision making. A prayer 3 when you have 15 seconds and only down 1 is terrible, period.

Absolutely brutal officiating in the OSU v. Syracuse game.

Let them play
