Danks and Floyd still available?

The Boston Globe’s Nick Carfado was told by an unnamed general manager that the Chicago White Sox are still willing to deal starting pitchers John Danks and Gavin Floyd. But before interested teams become overly excited, the GM added that Chicago continues seeking an enormous haul for their veteran arms.

According to the mystery GM, in order to acquire Danks or Floyd a team would have to “load up” a package with “at least two A-level prospects and a third that’s a notch below”. Oh yeah, the source added that this still “might not get it done”.

Any team should be willing to discuss almost any player for that type of package. This doesn’t seem to make Danks or Floyd any more available than other players. If a team is willing to call another team and overwhelm them with an offer, the original team would be crazy not to consider it. If this report is true, White Sox GM Kenny Williams is basically saying that teams have to present him with a package that forces him say yes.

Danks, who signed a five-year extension with the White Sox this offseason, is under team control through 2016. After 2012’s salary of $8 million, Danks is set to receive $14.25 million per season from the duration of his deal. The 26-year-old left-hander sports a career ERA and WHIP of 4.03 and 1.304 with 7.0 SO/9 and 2.9 BB/9.

Floyd is only guaranteed one more season in Chicago, as the club holds a $9.5 million option for the 2013 season. 29 years old, Floyd has a career ERA and WHIP of 4.50 and 1.326 with 6.9 SO/9 and 3.0 BB/9.

Looks like Danks is as available as Frank Thomas was in his prime.

Nick Carfado thinks everyone is available.

Last year he kept saying how Buehrle would make a great long relief pitcher.

Yes of course they are, you just need to replace them in the opening day rotation right now, which you're not going to do, but call me back once I know how the first month of the season develops and then we can start legitimately talking.

Balta, buddy, no one's calling you.

Danks isn't going anywhere. Floyd maybe dealt in June if this fails early.

Personally I think it should at least be mentioned that John Danks has a full no trade clause for the 2012 season. Maybe it's just me.

Even Booney "Two-Toes" Clark, the best Hawk's ever seen at running halfway to second on a fly ball with 1 out!?!?!?

I s*** you not, I had to Google that person to see if he was real. It honestly could have been a story mentioned by Hawk.

Before I read your post, I thought it was a true story.
