AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!

Featured Replies

Adam Dunn pretty much single-handedly won the White Sox a game.

Hey Beckham and Morel contributed as well.

Way to hit the ball, Dunn.

Good job, Sale.

And the bullpen did well enough.

Nice.

7-6 I believe is the Sox record.

. Dunn credited Jeff Manto with a drill that involved swinging with a medicine ball between his legs to prevent him from lunging

Manto is the man.

Dunn did look different on all his hits.

Sale strikes out 11 Mariners in White Sox victory

By Daryl Van Schouwen on April 21, 2012 12:37 AM | No Comments | No TrackBacks

SEATTLE -- Chris Sale improved to 2-1 with a mixed performance that was good enough.

Sale allowed three runs in 6 1/3 innings but had his strikeout pitch working. The lefty, in his first season as a starter, fanned 11 Seattle Mariners in a 7-3 victory.

"I was sporadic with my control at times but I have to give it to [catcher] A.J [Pierzynski],'' Sale said. "He really got me through that game. I threw one changeup for a strike. He came in the dugout and said, 'hey someone frame this ball for him.' That kind of stuff makes me smile and relaxes me a little.''

The Sox tied a season high with 15 strikeouts. Jesse Crain fanned two and Hector Santiago and Matt Thornton had one each.

Sale (3.50 ERA) gave up seven hits and walked three and pitched out of trouble.

"I've got a lot of positive reinforcement around here from people who know what they're doing,'' he said of making the transition to starting. "I just lean on them for knowledge and support. It makes it easier when guys are telling you the right things and pushing you in the right direction.''

I still haven't had a chance to watch really any Sox games, but I'm glad they're close to their potential and that Dunn is back.

I noticed that on the double, his body didn't go all haywire his head was on the ball. Donkey with a vengeance get all that anger and frustration out, take it out on the opposing pitcher

I've been one of his biggest critics but he does look totally different at the plate this year. Even in the games he struggled he looked different. working the count and not looking overmatched. IIRC Beckham, Morel and Dunn all got hits in the same inning. Keep that up and it could be an interesting year.

I love seeing Dunn take the inside pitch and then go to Left with the pitch on the outer black. It makes his plate coverage so much more complete.

I love it too! The double to left was just as encouraging to me as the homeruns. If he can do that, then teams can not put the shift on him. Man I really hope Adam Dunn is fixed for good.

He's also in shape. Night and day difference in his physical appearance from a year ago.

Maybe Manto is undoing the damage Walker did to the hitters.

That was one of the more satisfying Sox wins I've seen in a while. With the Dunn 2 hr's, Morel and Beckham both contributing and Sale just missing bats...beautiful. Still need Chris to get ahead of more hitters and once he starts to do that, he's going to be unhittable.

Adam had a similar game last year against the Angels. He went 4-5 with a home run and drove in the game winning run. But as we all know it was all downhill from there.
