June 19, 201213 yr From everything I've seen, it sounds worse than it is. Does make you wonder how they missed it on the initial MRI and you have to be thankful the rehab game he pitched didn't cause more damage.
June 19, 201213 yr Author Yeah Im wondering how they completely missed that on the MRI. Glad he went to another doctor today. No surgery but sounds like a ton of rehab.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:45 AM) Quintana is here to stay. Until he hits the 75 pitch mark
June 19, 201213 yr Wonder how Dr. Lewis Yocum and and his staff missed that one? Glad he got the second opinion, surely he knows his own body better than anyone else and just felt that something wasn't right...an acute ache or pain, a soreness that lasted longer and that he had never felt before between starts. On one, it's great to know that's probably a lot of the reason he wasn't performing well, trying to pitch through it since Spring Training and never getting his crisp fastball back and just gutting it out ala Peavy. It really puts the whole organization at a cross-roads in terms of what to do about 2012 (buying, staying put or selling or a little of all 3), though. PTAC guest appearance on the program in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... Edited June 19, 201213 yr by caulfield12

Right now, you don't make a move with regards to the rotation. Sounds like KW is desperate at 3rd base if he's suggesting moving Viciedo there.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 03:55 AM) He might be done for the season. Is this what you've heard or just your speculation?
June 19, 201213 yr Author I dont think the season...but certainly until the second part of the season.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/1323/john-danks Out for a while First place may be history soon.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 03:57 AM) First place may be history soon. Better now than in September if this team is going to tank.
June 19, 201213 yr Some comforting comments in this article. You wonder if this was a factor all season in his decreased velocity http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2101041.story
June 19, 201213 yr Wonder how long hes been pitching with it. PitchFX showed his velocity down all year, I have been checking. Basically down 1-3 MPH across the board. This could be the culprit...shut him down, this team ain't going no where anyway.
June 19, 201213 yr Maybe Nestor Molina will start to tear up Triple A. After all, the guy had 148 strikeouts against 16 walks last year. Recapture the magic, Nestor.

He's in AA, and it sounds like KW was praising Simon Castro today. I keep seeing people talk about Axelrod and others, but it seems like a lock the rotation is now Peavy, Floyd, Sale, Humber, Quintana with Axelrod next in line.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:14 AM) Some shoulder pathology shows better/best/only on MRI with contrast. Yep, that article shows they used the dye to highlight trouble areas.

I keep seeing people talk about Axelrod and others, but it seems like a lock the rotation is now Peavy, Floyd, Sale, Humber, Quintana with Axelrod next in line. Pedro Hernandez made the Southern League All-Star team, and his stats are similar with Quintana. Not surprising you would hear more hype about Castro and Mitchell (who's sinking fast) than Mr. Molina. Can't wait for the "puff pieces" about Ryan Howard/Barnum and Hawkins/Kemp taking the rookie leagues by storm.
June 19, 201213 yr QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) Not even at the break and your calling the season already. Were in 1st place btw Right now, you'd have to say the Tigers are still the favorites. If they can keep Fister healthy and get Smyly back from the blister, and get Avila back 100%, they're going to be a tough out...no matter how bad Valverde's been pitching. However, if Peavy keeps pitching like this and the team starts to fall out of, you see what you can get for him and use the 2nd half to audition virtually everyone in AA/AAA for next season. That also gives you a better idea of what to do with Gavin Floyd.
