That proposed Boston salary dump again shows how DUMB baseball owners are. All they do are slobber over these players in the offseason and sign them to HUGE contracts, then desperately try to get rid of the salaries during the season. It's insane. Unfortunately the people who have suffered because of these moronic baseball owners are the fans. Prices didn't have to go up, up, up if owners would never have decided to overpay these guys in the first place. They better hope there's not another deep recession or a true depression, cause these teams might finally go broke.

Baseball owners would make great Washington politicians. They follow the same pattern. Over spend, pass the costs to someone else.

I think it just goes to show you how much money some of them have. If this goes through, look at the money the Dodgers will have picked up during the season. It has to be a record.

Dodgers management is loaded. They overpaid for the franchise by like $200-$300 million. They clearly don't give a s*** about cash.

Beckham with two very hard outs

Great power comeback for Ramirez in the 2nd half of this season.

Nice to see it's still there.

By the way, are there two more similar disappointments at 2B than Beckham and Ackley? Almost eerily similar overall stats. Dustin's a better baserunner, wonder if they would consider trading those guys for each other? Richie Weeks is the other guy mentioned a lot, but so much more expensive.

Solid contact for Gordon. Good read by Sea CF.

I don't think the 2012 free agent class is stellar, but obviously Boston will have a ton of cash to spend. And the Dodgers are going to have a crazy payroll.

That might not even put the Dodgers over the luxury tax. They were stripped to the bones by McCourt.

Yep. Its just money, if you can be the Yankees of the NL, be the Yankees of the NL.

Keep Vargas in so we can homer some more

Ha, how does that not go out yet the slam did?

Gordon has been getting some solid contact but many times right at somebody.

8th season that Dunn has hit 38 or more Hrs, really impressive considering he's doing it clean.

And that is what baseball wants too. Let these guys rejuvanate the Dodgers and their fan base. Boston now goes out a tries to sign a different bunch of free agents to compete. I wonder if Valentine will be back there next year too. Curt Schilling on Baseball Tonite Wed. thought it was a mistake to keep Bobby V. there in Beantown

It also makes them more attractive to a potential buyer. There are rumors that John Henry et al might be looking to sell sooner than later.

Brute strength.

I'm pretty sure that if you set up a pitching machine to throw sliders down and away to Brendan Ryan, he would swing and miss every single time.

If this trade goes through and they don't chop payroll elsewhere, they will have a payroll over $200 million next season.

Dirks goes down swinging. Through seven in Detroit.

Greinke strikes out Dirks with 2 on to end the 7th!

Greinke to the Angels is really working out for the Sox. The Sox knock him around, but Detroit is baffled.

John Henry was very outspoken about never wanting Crawford on those terms.

Kind of threw his administrative team under the bus and it's been downhill ever since with KFC Gate, Francona, Youk, the booing at Old Timer's Day, bullpen issues galore, Valentine hate, Bard, Beckett falling apart physically....David Ortiz has been about the only positive for that franchise this year.

Adrian Beltre couldn't be more locked in. 2b, 3b, HR in 3 ABs tonight after hitting 3 homers two days ago. 9 for his last 13 with 5 homers, 2 doubles and a triple.

Holy balls, Gordon.

I wonder how many wins Detroit has after trailing in the 7th. They seem to be getting a lot of late inning wins recently.
