At this point we need a win. I think it would be just as big a W if he could get it tomorrow vs. Minnesota. If Sale could shut down Minnesota and we win, 5-0, and Detroit loses, that's just as huge as whatever might happen Monday.

Extra rest for what? There's 3 weeks left. He's your best pitcher. You start him on normal rest every time unless he is injured or needs the rest. Every time you give him more rest, it's another start made by someone else that isn't nearly as good as him.

Why not pitch Quintana on Monday on just one extra day rest? The way he handled the Tigers I'd like to see him again instead. I'd go Sale/Liriano/Peavy/Quintana. Peavy will still be on 5 days of rest, Quintana has an extra couple.

2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 aren't guaranteed to give us this good of a chance at the playoffs. Playoffs are in reach now, so throw everything at that effort.

Moving Sale back to Monday means he gets three more starts. Having Sale pitch tonight means he gets four more starts.

and the fact that to opposing pitchers PK no longer seems to be a dangerous threat anymore. How many clutch situations were there where we really needed some runs........... has he come through without hitting some weak sqibber to the shortstop, or a lazy fly ball? the first half.............he was dangerous to the opposition because they knew that he was going to hit it HARD someplace. Now......solid hard contact out of him in key situations is horrible. If we are going to have a chance at this thing we need the PK back that we know him to be

If you are that concerned with 2016, shut him down the next 3 seasons, he'll be nice and fresh.

I don't believe so. However having him pitch tonight gives him 2 starts during the next homestand, pushing him back gives him only one.
