May 3, 201312 yr 4th inning- flyout, 2 groundouts. 45 pitches, 27 strikes Getting outs, but he's not missing bats.
May 3, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) Today sucks The draft pick crowd should be thrilled. This has been a great day for them.
May 3, 201312 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:00 AM) The draft pick crowd should be thrilled. This has been a great day for them. You couldn't be more wrong, as clearly the draft pick crowd would want the best return possible on Floyd and Peavy. Floyd's season is now in jeopardy, and who knows what's going on with Peavy. Also, the news about Barnum and Hawkins is a downer as well.
May 3, 201312 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:00 PM) The draft pick crowd should be thrilled. This has been a great day for them. I consider myself more the mid-season sell off crowd thank you very much haha. The Sox ability to draft and develop has been more than questionable for a long time... They're much better at trading and giving a chance.

May 3, 201312 yr Danks is getting valuable hitting experience, haha. He did give up a homer to Puig, although that's not a shocker. Pitching into the 7th has to be considered a moral victory. And Trayce Thompson is starting to put up similar numbers to Michael Jordan for Birmingham. All he's missing is Francona as the manager. Edited May 3, 201312 yr by caulfield12
May 3, 201312 yr Author Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales 53m Danks believes he'll need only 1 or 2 more starts before rejoining Sox. Next start Tuesday at Columbus for Triple-A Charlotte.

May 4, 201312 yr Author Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales 29m RV confirms 4 LH starters when Danks returns (maybe after two more starts) is a poss., saying you go with your best if that's what you have.
May 4, 201312 yr Buddy bell was just on with Rongey saying Danks will probably make four rehab starts. Of course I take this as Bell has no idea.
May 4, 201312 yr Note to Buddy Bell/Laumann: Please do not take the "best available player" in June if he's an outfielder. I don't have confidence he will emerge unscathed from our system. The best plan for the time being is to keep developing pitching depth and dealing them for young hitters from other organizations. The end.
May 7, 201312 yr Cooper was on the radio this morning, and it sure seems like he's trying to get fans to prepare for mediocre velocity from Danks. Also, it sounded like Santiago could get moved from the starting rotation when Danks returns just based on Cooper's assessment of Santiago's contributions to the team.
May 7, 201312 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 6, 2013 -> 12:38 AM) According to South Side Sox, Danks had a total of 6 swings-and-misses in 7 innings. Sounds like he was pitching to contact and mixing his pitches with good movement on the ball. That is good
May 7, 201312 yr QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2013 -> 08:26 AM) Sounds like he was pitching to contact and mixing his pitches with good movement on the ball. That is good Not missing bats=not good, that will catch up with him in the summertime at USCF

May 7, 201312 yr QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2013 -> 08:20 AM) Cooper was on the radio this morning, and it sure seems like he's trying to get fans to prepare for mediocre velocity from Danks. Also, it sounded like Santiago could get moved from the starting rotation when Danks returns just based on Cooper's assessment of Santiago's contributions to the team. If Danks isn't 100% ready, they have no business pushing him up to Chicago if Santiago and Axelrod are still holding down the fort capably. Right now, I don't see how you could make a credible argument that Santiago's not a better option. Of the starters in our current rotation, Santiago has the second best stuff behind Sale. Basically, Santiago has a lot different stuff in his repertoire than Quintana/Danks, who are quite similar.
May 7, 201312 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) Not missing bats=not good, that will catch up with him in the summertime at USCF against big league hitters Maybe he wasn't trying to miss bats?
May 7, 201312 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2013 -> 08:45 AM) Maybe he wasn't trying to miss bats? What was his swing and miss ratio in 2008-09-10-11? I'm just curious...Danks, at some point, is going to feel the pressure to start putting up some K's, unless he's trying to be Jim Parque II minus the PED's and three homer game to Mike Cameron.
May 7, 201312 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) Maybe he wasn't trying to miss bats? For Danks, he usually only gets swings and misses on 20% of swing against him when he's having a good year.

Mike Cameron hit 4 homers that game
