September 24, 201312 yr Colleen Kane @ChiTribKane 3m Sox third baseman Jeff Keppinger will have shoulder surgery on Thursday. Not in Cleveland with team tonight.
September 24, 201312 yr Jeff Keppinger is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery Thursday on his right shoulder. The 33-year-old infielder wound up batting just .253 with a .283 on-base percentage and .317 slugging percentage in 451 plate appearances this season. Keppinger is under contract with the White Sox through 2015. It's not clear whether he'll be ready for the start of 2014. Per Rotoworld
September 24, 201312 yr Author Ventura weighs in. South Side Sox @SouthSideSox 2m "It affected his throwing, but swinging a bat? That was pure, 100-percent Keppinger. Literally, it's the most he can do."
September 24, 201312 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) Ventura weighs in. South Side Sox @SouthSideSox 2m "It affected his throwing, but swinging a bat? That was pure, 100-percent Keppinger. Literally, it's the most he can do." I don't think Ventura likes Keppinger very much

That was pure, 100-percent Keppinger. Literally, it's the most he can do." Wow................. Is 90 plus losses and playing like crap in September 2 years in a row the most RV can do? September 24, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Wow................. Is 90 plus losses and playing like crap in September 2 years in a row the most RV can do? lol, I love the connection made here.
September 24, 201312 yr Here's to hoping that this was why the .325 Keppinger became the .253 Keppinger.
September 24, 201312 yr LOL, that's about as Ozzie-ish as I've ever seen from Robin. He usually has a much better way of wording a player's failures.
September 24, 201312 yr QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Wow................. Is 90 plus losses and playing like crap in September 2 years in a row the most RV can do? Keppinger playing like dogs*** is one of the biggest reasons why the Sox lost 90 games this year, so yeah
September 24, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) Keppinger playing like dogs*** is one of the biggest reasons why the Sox lost 90 games this year, so yeah Exactly.
September 24, 201312 yr Author Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 33m No specifics on Keppinger shoulder surgery--more an exploratory procedure to find the cause of the pain
September 24, 201312 yr QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) Here's to hoping that this was why the .325 Keppinger became the .253 Keppinger. Robin basically said that this simply isn't the case. On April 22nd, Keppinger hit his low point for the year with splits of .153/.149/.167/.315. In the 100 games he played following that, including 87 starts, he hit .274/.310/.348/.658. Frankly, expecting anything more out of him than that is expecting too much. September 24, 201312 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 06:00 PM) Same surgery as Flowers. Recovery will be 2-6 months depending on what they find out what is wrong. Ok, what the hell were these guys doing that hurt all of their shoulders?
September 24, 201312 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) Ok, what the hell were these guys doing that hurt all of their shoulders? Sucky seasons
September 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) Same surgery as Flowers. Recovery will be 2-6 months depending on what they find out what is wrong. If they found something like a labrum, it could potentially be much longer than that. FWIW, both Flowers and Keppinger missed time/DH'd in Spring Training due to shoulder pain.
September 25, 201312 yr Keppinger is one of those guys who can be awful like he was this year or pretty good. He has had a few decent years, and TB acquired him because he was non tendered. So he really can go either way. Hopefully the roster will be strong enough next year so they can pick his spots and he can put up decent numbers either to help the Sox win or entice another team to pick him up.

September 25, 201312 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) Who signed Keppinger, Hahn or Kenny? The White Sox
September 25, 201312 yr I can see him being released in the off-season, best case scenario of sticking him on the 60 day DL and freeing up a 40 man roster spot and releasing him when he struggles to recover from the injury.
