I loathe Hawk and am embarrassed my favorite baseball team employs him. He is an oafish novelty act that is about insightful as a bag of rocks. The day he's finally gone will be a celebratory one indeed.

Your what hurts?

This more of a lifetime achievement award?

Exactly. It would be the same as saying that Hank Aaron shouldn't be in the HOF because he hit .229 his last year in baseball.

He deserved it, so I guess he deserves it now.

Didn't make it. He'll be eligible again in three years. Three...long....years.

That blows. He's going to make it. Why make him wait? Do they only give it to 1 guy a year?

Hopefully Hawk is still alive when he gets it.

Yeah. I actually felt the same way about Santo. If you are going to vote for him when he is dead, you might as well let him enjoy it while he is alive. Nothing regarding his worthiness will have changed.

With all of Santo's whining, he didn't deserve to get in while he was alive.

He lets the White Sox brass do that for him....naming the broadcast level of the park after him, Hawk Harrelson Day, having MLB Network do a special on him, etc.

Make no mistake, he wants to be there.

I'm sure he does, and I'm sure the White Sox want him there as well. I would bet the naming the broadcast level of the park after him, Hawk Harrelson Day, having MLB Network do a special on him were not his ideas.

I am sure a lot of the voters would have looked at Santo much more favorably if he had let the Cubs brass done the same thing.

There's nobody it would mean more to than Hawk.

He's bad now, but he really deserved it.
