Olbermann with a scathing attack on Bonds and the Giants right now.

You managed to mention a person I actually find more repulsive than Bonds.

Ervin Santana has signed a one-year deal with the Braves. The deal makes so much sense for a contending team whose rotation was just decimated by injury.

And a team with a real chance to win now.

Any thoughts on what division race will be the most compelling to watch this season? My money's on the AL West with 3 legit contenders and the Mariners, who won't suck either.

AL East. Every single team in that division can win or finish last.

The Twins and Glen Perkins agree to a contract extension

Perk to earn $4.025M in 2014, $4.6 in 2015, $6.3M in 2016 and $6. in 2017. The deal also includes a $6.5M club option for the 2018 season.

That is a fantastic deal for the Twins

Word is that Perkins came to the Twins and offered these numbers. What a nice guy.

That's upper midwest generosity. What does he need $50 million for? He can get by perfectly fine on $20 mill, and he could certainly make more after that too.

Any contract with such length for a relief pitcher is incredibly risky

Who in the hell would pay Glen Perkins $50 million?

You can make the argument for each team. I think the first month or two will be a mess but as we get into the summer, I think we'll be seeing the Rays and Red Sox distance themselves a bit. Really comes to pitching and I dont trust the Orioles and Jays pitching staffs.

$50 mill may have been too much, but the point remains. He has been an absolutely dynamite reliever the last 3 years.
