July 3, 201411 yr QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) After watching this it kind of makes me want to get into MLS.. Chicago Fire any good? I'm excited about the new NYCFC team. I'll definitely be checking out some of their games when they start play next season
July 4, 201411 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) Cesar could have gotten a red there. I thought so too. I do hate that rule though. Penalty and a yellow is enough when the goalie is involved. By the letter of the law though, that seemed like a red.

July 4, 201411 yr Neymar has a fractured vertebrae. Holy s***. There may be another soccer related killing of a columbian coming.
July 4, 201411 yr Neymar out for the rest of the tournament with a fractured vertebrae. Not looking good for Brazil.
July 5, 201411 yr Author I was gonna talk smack to the posters here who were whooping it up after Mexico got eliminated but decided to take the high road. Decided it was enough just knowing you guys got thoroughly outclassed. Since the US beats Mexico a few times a year, it's in our best interests to have Mexico win as many other games as possible to help our ranking.
July 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) The Dutch better score over 1.5 goals or else... Well they scored 4...kinda. Ballsy move by the Dutch coach and they move on in penalties.
July 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 06:49 PM) Well they scored 4...kinda. Ballsy move by the Dutch coach and they move on in penalties. f***ing Van Persie had 3 golden chances himself. just s***s himself in the knockout rounds I guess.
July 5, 201411 yr Sexy semis ahead. Can't wait. Hopefully we get better games than some of the quarters, but the drama has been in every match.
July 6, 201411 yr Author Poll question: When do you think the US will first win the World Cup: A) 2018-2022 B) 2026-2034 C) 2038-2046 D) 2050 or later (entire team not born yet) Bonus poll question: Yes or no, the US will be the first team outside of UEFA and CONMEBOL to win.

Woooow, what a question. A would be extremely shocking. Can I cop out and just say the next time we host? Maybe that's 2026, maybe it's elsewhere in that B range. As far as any team outside of Europe/South America winning, the only possible candidates to me are the US and Mexico. I don't see an African team winning with the lack of organization those federations seem to have. I don't see any Asian country having the resources and the necessary push to win (maybe South Korea?). When Mexico next hosts they have a chance if they also happen to have an above average Mexican team at the same time.
July 6, 201411 yr I mean it's pretty damn hard to win the World Cup. I'll go with 20 years from now, but never may be a good guess. It's just not that popular of a sport where development is at the world class level. The best high school athletes will rarely be the soccer players, and that's from a guy who played in high school and went to college to play.
July 6, 201411 yr still think we're a generation away from atleast being able to say a run is possible without being laughed at. but it starts with the support and growth of MLS. Every American fan who comes out to say that they only watch BPL/La Liga/etc because they think MLS sucks is just hurting the chances. The more kids see soccer as a way to play professionally then the larger the talent pool to select from is.

When I went over for a summer it was eye opening.
July 6, 201411 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) Right now we have to send our players overseas. When I went over for a summer it was eye opening. i'm talking about supporting MLS as fans. MLS doesnt have to become a top tier league(which we know will never happen) but that doesnt mean it cant be a good league that can develop players. If MLS can get to the level as Liga MX then that will do wonders for our national team. We wouldnt have to be relying on the Zusi's,Brad Davis,Beckerman's or Wondo's making their WC debuts(and asking for major contributions) at such an advanced age if the MLS gets deeper talent wise.

I gotta say 2050 or later. That's not even ten tournaments. The best teams will be happy to win one or two. Given the talent gap I saw in the last two games, hard to see the US winning four straight elimination games after advancing from the group. It's hard for some of the top teams. For the bonus question, I need to see a list of the future hosts, cause that's when I think it's most likely a team makes a Cinderella run. If Mexico were to ever host again, they could possibly win it then. Maybe Japan? South Korea made the semifinals at home.

Oh ok. Yeah some cities do already but we still need to groom Americans to play for us. And that's gotta start young.
July 6, 201411 yr South Korean soccer is dead...or so say the fans https://sports.yahoo.com/news/angry-fans-de...GlkA1NNRTM5OF8x

If Qatar isn't stripped of 2022 and given to the US, then the US is the overwhelming favorite to get 2026.
