Who is this pitcher?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:38 PM)
He will start the 9th that is for sure. I should of known when Eaton swung at first pitch this was a bad night.

Yep.. Is Steverson responsible for the game play at the plate or do the hitters just do what they want

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:35 PM)
Well put and you are correct sir. Hawk has praised MC more than any other player against Sox not to let him beat you no matter what.

Go to baseball reference and look up Petricka's numbers vs. RH. They are ridiculous. The guy got a scratch lucky hit.

Flowers has earned his playing time be cut but it will not happen.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:39 PM)
He gives him a chance now because Webb has done a great job for us this year and he deserves a shot in a big situation because of his performance (aside from walks, but Petricka has plenty of those as well)

He has 22 BB. Can't put him in pressure situations right now with that control

Has he even hit anything hard besides those 2 hits (both homers)

Not that I can remember

At least the strikeouts don't hurt his babip.

That was the 3rd hit of the inning.

While you're on that site, check out that Miguel Cabreras stats. Dude is one of the GOATs

Petricka has 18.

This series against KC is going to be big. Need to win at least 2 out of 3 but with the pitching match ups I just don't see it happening unfortunately

And again, he didn't hit the ball very well there.

How many innings for both?

Rick Hahn knows full well that, as part of the reshaping of the ball club, he'll have to make changes at both catcher and in left. That may or may not happen this season, but it's coming.

No he did not. Still should never pitch to Cabrera there

PCL numbers mean nothing to me....ie- Matt Davidson

You act like the rest of the league doesn't bat in the PCL either.

.381/.456/.539 163 wRC+ (a league-adjusted stat!!) in AAA last season

.302/.409/.429 133 wRC+ in AA

.332/.455/.492 152 wRC+ in A+

.381/.496/.571 182 wRC+ in R

He's dominated every single level he's been at up to this point. His "bad" in MLB looks like 80 wRC+ with a big added value on D that leaves him at least as a solid regular. He struggled coming off the second DL trip of his career and I'm really not that worried about whether he'll kick ass like he has done everywhere else.

As far as Davidson goes, you need to realize that him playing bad right now has nothing to do with the legitimacy or even lack thereof of his PCL numbers. His "worst" league-adjusted professional season to date involved him hitting 20 HR and driving in 107 RBI. His struggles in Charlotte are not some poor translation of PCL stats. It's something extraneous. Maybe he's got something personal going on, maybe the coaching staff has him working on something asinine, maybe he's hurt, maybe he's mentally weak. We've already seen the kid hit well in MLB last year and he even capped it off with a great ST this year. I'm guessing he was hit with tremendous disappointment at his demotion and it has gotten him into a funk that he needs help getting out of. Release yourself from the "worst case scenario is the reality" mindset.

+1

I said this yesterday, but LF, C and a SP slot seem to be the places where there's no one locked in for the future.

Eaton is fabulous out there. I really didn't know he'd be this good in CF

Don Kelly and Mitch Maier, two guys I always get mixed up

I don't understand how some people think Eaton isn't good at CF.

Webb needs to check runners

34 for Jake, 31.2 for Webb

Good call on Eaton being great on defense...which he has been. However, I still believe if he's your best hitting outfielder, then that's a very bad hitting outfield.

As for Davidson, his AAA numbers this year are extremely scary. Not sure what happened to him, but he's basically been one of the worst hitters in the IL since the second series of the season.
