Wish we could grab one of the right handers. Both are controllable through 2019

I'd take Kuechel, Cosart, McHugh in that order.

on him it would be appreciated ????

Wow.

There goes the Danks market, if there ever was one.

How does that change the Danks market? The price tags couldn't be more different.

That's McHugh's profile, as you can see he's already 27 and just seemed to figure it out this year. Keuchel and Cosart are still young, although they would be more expensive, have a better track record.

Teams might decide they'd rather pay more in prospects (less in dollars) for above average, young pitching.

It appears they want major league hitters. Something the Yankees can't spare.

that's, but here is what I learned, with ref to right handed pitching, I will take McHugh, he pitch 3 types of

pitches with the fast ball around +/- 92 mph. a slider and a curve ball.

Keuchel has 4-5 types of pitches with the FB being his best, 88-90 mph.

the pitcher I like is the only Lefty of the group, Cosart, 3 pitches with FB being his best 93-94 +/-. I really

wish the sox had picked his brother last yr in the draft. oh well.

Is Houston ever going to be good again?

not with the present management and how they are managing the money.

working the system for the profits, pretty much like the marlins.

Would not be surprised if Houston is doing this in an effort to try and get back a little talent they lost from this years draft debacle.

if you are talking about HOU pitchers that are avail, imho they are

fringe players mostly long rp, except maybe cosart.

Cosart is a righty, which makes him pretty intriguing.

Keuchel is good, but he's a lefty and we need a righty.

Cosart was reasonably high on prospect lists, but hasn't pitched well.

McHugh was a claimed out of the scrap heap; he's had a great year, but was absolutely terrible the 4 prior years.

Anyway, none should be very expensive.

oh man, I thought he was a lefty...... sorry.

but of all pitchers, I like casart the most.

now with the sox system, we need arms ready for prime time arms. to help now(2015).

I would be all over Keuchel. Not sure what it would take but Keuchel could bridge the gap to Rodon when Rodon is ready and as long as Keuchel continued to pitch well he could be traded for prospects or if he's that good then keep him. 4 lefties doesn't scare me one bit.

Trade Danks for JR Murphy and wed be looking better,IMO.

OK, I'm done with arm chair GMing for now. :D

I'd love to see Coop work his magic with Cosart

On whether there's a bias in the media now against the Astros' front office

I just don't know, are they trying to soft soap HOU miss deeds by reporting that HOU has subtly

improve the talent in the minors?

I will admit I am confused on the intent of the article.

Why would they want to trade Keuchel?

I guess the national baseball media has really been hard on the Astros this year...and the Astros' version of SoxTalk, some of the main writers are wondering why all of a sudden the local media (it would be like if the Trib and Sun-Times suddenly had White Sox players anonymously complaining about Robin Ventura's managerial style or Don Cooper or something that always stays in the clubhouse leaking).

Also, this idea that it's so weird or unusual for a minor league prospect to stop by in the morning on his way to another assignment (when he has to go from Lancaster, CA to Corpus Christi and Houston's in the middle anyway)...to work with the major league pitching coach.

It's obviously a pretty negative environment in Houston right now....and the team has also gone into another tailspin after getting close to respectability about a month ago.

Interestingly, nobody's complaining about possibly trading those three starters. Just that they might not get as much as they want for Kuechel (or Keuchel, however you spell it) and that Cosart has a reputation for being difficult for everyone to deal with (your basic prima dona, pain in the ass), so that might also hurt his value too despite having the best stuff of the three.
