I love this lineup tonight. I know we talk about how a lot of the games, it's not bad for the future if the Sox lose. Well, tonight is a game I'd really like to see them win.

Loving the line up. I like Viciedo at first.

With Viciedo, it would be interesting to see if they really do want to make him the back-up/emergency 1B for Abreu next year.

Carroll starting Sunday. Bassitt possibly next Wednesday.

So Konerko is also down to four home games since he's out for at least 7-10 days.

I really think he's part of the team next year if he can hit consistently.

He better play Saturday the 27th because I got tickets for that day for 13 bucks.

Yep, and just like with Flowers, I'll be ok with it as long as the available money goes to a strong starting pitcher and lefty hitting DH or LF

Exactly my thought.

If we get a new DH, I'd rather see Viciedo moved. If we sign say Melky, I'd be ok keeping tank and having him get majority of his at bats at dh with also a little in the outfield and first. Also it'd be nice to have him hitting like 6th as opposed to middle of the order.

Not happening...buying high...peds...qualifying offer compensation

In the free agency list there are 6-8 corner ofers more likely as placeholders on short-term deals who won't cost a draft pick

It's going to be annoying if jake peavy finally beats the tigers while pitching for sf

Who are the 6-8 corner outfielders you would rather have? (Please don't say Rasmus....he's basically Dunn without the walks and the durability)

Abreu .324

Maybe we're showcasing tank at 1b at other teams' requests.

Ok now this is getting good. Abreu .325 after that triple

I think Abreu has gone Joey Votto in the second half

During his 14 game hitting streak, Abreu is 25-47 (.532).

One thing I haven't hear people talked about yet. Chris Sale's pitches per PA.

It's at 4.04 pitches / PA, which is ranks 88th out of 94 qualifying pitchers, and I would bet that number is driven up by the last 6 starts or so.

Taylor swings at some terrible pitches.

Why was he brought up over Mitchell? I know Jared isn't great but should've been brought up to see what he is, good or bad.

I thought I read where Taylor was out of options, while Mitchell has one more year in the Sox system left.

Not better statistically just more likely in terms of reasonable contract terms and mitigated risk due to preserving draft picks...

In the offseason? Then surely they would have already seen him at Charlotte in 2010 or 11.
