In case you missed it, Melton said he does these games because he lives out there the Sox asked him to.

"What, am I going to say no?"

So it's clear he'd rather not do them, not that it's a surprise.

Ok, Rodon time...

How can anyone not get a kick out of Beltin Bill Melton? My wife is a lawyer and has to do these extra educational things every year. A couple of years ago she went to a sports law seminar and the guest of honor was Melton. My wife, who can be as proper as can be, thought he was hysterical. I guess she talked to him after the event and Melton said he was a little nervous because he was the only non lawyer there. A few weeks later I went with her to the season ticketholder party and she introduces me to him. Don't get mad at the mispronounciations. Embrace them. This guy is a treasure. He proved it today.

I agree. I admit that, at first, I was psisy about him. But now I realize how hilarious it is.

I sure hope someone recorded the Melt-down on air. Otherwise it's all 2nd hand and we'll never know what really happened. Gawd I wish I had heard that.

strikes out Ludwick, single to Gallo, 2-0

This will be good for Rodon.

Bleeders hurting him. Just go with it kid.

Brantly having a tough time

Brantly looks awful behind the plate.

Brantly having a tough time

Chisoxfn was just saying earlier that Brantly really didn't look good defensively when he saw him live the other day.

Most important part of that inning was Rodon didn't walk anyone. If he throws enough strikes, he'll be a good big league pitcher.

Rodon really 6'3" or is that being generous?

Brantly looks awful behind the plate.

During drills when I was at spring training, I came to the conclusion that he was an awful defensive catcher with a very weak arm. Sample size and it was practice but all of the other catchers were head and shoulders better. His arm reminded me of Damon or Pierre for his respective position.

When I watched his bullpen session last week (warming up for his debut), I was surprised at how thick and strong he was (especially from the lower body). I don't know if he is 6'3 but he was much bigger than I expected (strength and height wise) in person.

Yeah, I'm done with Brantly.

Just called Beltre "Beltran". The guy is priceless. There's a goof in every sentence.

Kiley (I think it was) over at FanGraphs said he was definitely closer to 6' even than 6'3"

That's what I was thinking. Big guy, but doesn't look more than 6-0, 6-1.

Avi NAILED that ball.

Someone please get the Melton talk somewhere. Sox feed doesn't work for mobile devices.

The pace of play rules must not apply to the Sox.
