Shark dropping appeal

Featured Replies

At least Rodon is where he belongs. Still belongs in Charlotte, but at least he's starting.

Hope he can relax and throw strikes.

And Shark might be sitting anyway with the liner off the pitching arm

@CST_soxvan: Ventura said Samardzija had x-ray and is OK.

Agree completely. Even if he gets rocked I'm glad he's not in that stupid middle relief role anymore.

So starting Rodon on Sunday put the White Sox in good shape still over the next week.

5/6 Sale vs Detroit

5/7 Quintana vs Detroit

5/8 Noesi vs Cincinnati

5/9 Danks vs Cincinnati

5/10 Rodon vs Cincinnati

5/11 Samardzija vs Milwaukee

5/12 Sale vs Milwaukee

You could do this with Samardzija and Sale both serving their suspensions. Hopefully, Sale drops his appeal after tonight's start. You could even keep Rodon in the rotation and make Noesi the long man going forward.

Finish this homestand 4-2 and the Sox will be in pretty good shape going forward.

12-16 after the homestand and get positioned to go on a run (if they have one in them)....

I didn't realize it the first time I went the through the schedule but we will have played more games against NL opponents than non-ALC AL opponents on May 9th. That wont change until (presumably) May 27th.

I hate the new schedules.

Yeah, that looks likely...but they really could insert Rodon in any of the Reds games.

BTW, this weekend could be very rainy. Hopefully they can get the three games in.

I think they should be able to keep Rodon in the rotation. At this point in the season, every starter has roughly 27 starts left. I think they will use off days, the all star break or an occasional start by Noesi or Carroll to keep him closer to 23 or 24 starts. If he averages 6 innings per start, 24 starts would put him at 160 innings combined between the minors and majors this year and that seems to be about where they should want him to be. If the Sox do manage to make the playoffs they really don't need a 4th starter with a front three of Sale, Samardzija and Quintana.

That's only because of the two PPD games in Baltimore. Had they played those games as scheduled they would've had the same number of games vs. the 2 groups by 5/17.

Every team in baseball plays one home and away series in the division the first 5 weeks of the season. With 2 "other" series.

Same thing for the last 5 weeks of the season.

May 11 - August 30, for all intents and purposes, it's a balanced schedule.

f*** it I'm greedy. I want a 6-0 home stand

He'll be back in it after they have served their respective suspensions. It is the correct choice.

That's official now.

Jeff Samardzija officially drops his appeal. Will begin serving his five-game suspension tonight. Available again 5/11 at Brewers

Fully expect Chris Sale to start serving his suspension Thursday, being available to start Tuesday in Milwaukee.

I also expect Carlos Rodon to get the start that will be needed this weekend with Samardzija and Sale gone.

Right now, Quintana Thursday, and then a combination of Danks, Noesi and Rodon vs. Reds.

I hope Rodon has a great start and either Danks/Noesi moves to the pen.

Jeff Samardzija will have one extra days' rest tonight facing the Brewers due to his 5-game suspension. Hair sure to be en fuego. #whitesox

I didn't even notice the suspension. Thanks Rodon and Danksy!
