Carroll was ineligible to be called up because he was sent down less than 10 days ago and there were no injuries.

Johnson pitched in the AAA All Star Game on Wednesday and would not be prepared to pitch today.

I thought the rule was 7 days and not 10, but I guess I was wrong. And I feel like there must have been other options at AAA rather than calling him all the way up from AA.
