Personally, I'd like to see Ventura run Flowers behind the plate next time Jeff pitches.

There's really no risk of having the QO accepted. The window to accept or reject is only a week, and there's no way he will know enough about his market value within that week to risk accepting the offer.

The odds are overwhelming he will reject, but if he took it that's fine too. Maybe he gets it together next season and then goes on to a bigger contract. Just don't get fooled by a decent year next year and extend him with a team record contract. IMO, his suckage this season may be a blessing for the White Sox. They can spend the significant money they were going to spend on him the next 4 or 5 years on someone a bit better.

With the trend of young pitchers exploding onto the scene and contributing right away, teams could be less inclined to throw away a first round pick and $100 mil at a pitcher with a career ERA of over 4.00

Owners/GMs are reckless when it comes to paying even for mediocre pitching. I don't think Shark can be successful pitching in the AL. He's even more inconsistent than Danks. I find it odd that an organization who habitually drafts pitchers only to get veteran pitchers in trades. They need to scout hitters or get scouts who are good at finding potential hitters. Then evaluate those developing them and see if those people are worthy of keeping their jobs.

If they did this maybe the the money wasted on aging NL hitters would give them a better chance of getting a decent veteran starter.

I seriously can't believe this CERA thing has actually become A THING. FFS, you'd think Tyler f***ing Flowers was Johnny Bench. It's a small sample size fluke. Shark throwing meatball after meatball that doesn't even reach the catcher's glove has zero to do with who is catching him.

The White Sox' insane love for Flowers has permeated some the brains on this forum with its insidious insanity.

The CERA thing doesn't apply to Samardzija. Flowers has only caught him for 6 innings.
