December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/status/672902473951158272 Yay I can update my signature.
December 4, 201510 yr Lolz. Good luck to them signing a flyball pitcher that's old as dirt for that much money.
December 4, 201510 yr They got their man...lol I bet the cub fans are all pissed right now watching Price's presser.
December 4, 201510 yr Not a Lackey fan but a two year deal certainly isn't going to hurt or stop them from making other moves.
December 4, 201510 yr I dont know. My initial impression of Lackey signing anywhere throughout his career I always think to myself... damn that was a mistake. But he has proven to be an impactful SP and presence plenty of seasons along the way including last year. He isnt a power pitcher so its not like with his age there is going to be a sure drop off.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) God, you're going to HATE him when he walks off the mound screaming after he strikes out a guy to end the inning. Haha He'll look like Gandhi compared to Strop
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:31 PM) This makes me happy as a Cubs hater Well said. Honestly, their rotation next year will be pretty meh if they don't pick up anyone else. There's no chance that Arrieta will be as dominant as he was in 2015, Lester is aging fast, as is Lackey, and Hammel and Hendricks have never been that good. December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) This makes me happy as a Cubs hater here here.... i agree. but for 2 yrs, and a savings of 1 mil thru 2 mil per compare to sign shark for 4 yrs at 18 per.... what a burn for shark.

They're going to end up trading Soler for someone like Shelby Miller also
December 4, 201510 yr The Cubs may very well add a number 2-3 SP via a trade as well. Which will make this signing look even better.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) The Cubs may very well add a number 2-3 SP via a trade as well. Which will make this signing look even better. Paying 16 million dollars and giving up a draft pick for a #4 seems excessive, especially given how much Lackey benefited from pitching at home last year.

I think they go into Spring Training with one of: Ross, Salazar, Miller or Carrasco who are good still young right handed starters. Edited December 4, 201510 yr by soxfan2014
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:37 PM) Don't forget the fact that he's 37... he may decline Father Time is undefeated
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Father Time is undefeated Well, he has one loss. Tim Duncan
December 4, 201510 yr The draft pick is a very fair point, didn't even think about that for some reason.
December 4, 201510 yr David KaplanVerified account @thekapman That lines up with what my source told me earlier this afternoon that Lackey wanted to be here with Lester, Ross and Theo. Amazing how the media kisses Theo's ass
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Well, he has one loss. Tim Duncan Ya forgot about him...touché love some Timmy Duncan

Amazing how the media kisses Theo's ass LOL at Ross. David Ross: The Free Agent Whisperer Oh, Kaplan, you amazin' ball-licker.
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Hopefully he pitches like Samardzija did for the Sox. Seen a few places the Cardinals might go after Samardzija now
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) LOL at Ross. David Ross: The Free Agent Whisperer Oh, Kaplan, you amazin' ball-licker. Please let this mean Ross is his personal catcher also!
December 4, 201510 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) Seen a few places the Cardinals might go after Samardzija now As long as he's nowhere close to a White Sox uniform when the season starts and dominates the Cubs on whatever team he signs with, I'll be happy.
