December 10, 201510 yr I was talking to my buddy this week and we were assuming it was soon but hadn't heard anything, nice surprise.
December 11, 201510 yr I'm interested to see what happened, butthis one is a lot less obscure. There is no guilty/not guilty. His story is insane.
December 11, 201510 yr Author It is insane and I think he's insane. His story is stupid and I don't find me being anymore sympathetic to him even if it's the 100% truth. Next week's episode should be great.
December 11, 201510 yr I didn't follow this story at all when it was in the news, so like the first season I'm 100% blind to what the "story" is. Unlike the first season, I can already tell that I don't see myself ever feeling sorry for this guy or at least feeling like I WANT him to be exonerated for being falsely accused. This guy was either a turncoat, or at minimum, one of the stupidest people ever. Leaving his platoon in the middle of the night to wonder around Afghanistan in order to expose that one of his superiors is an asshole? Really? That's the plan? No one is THAT stupid.
December 11, 201510 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) It is insane and I think he's insane. His story is stupid and I don't find me being anymore sympathetic to him even if it's the 100% truth. Next week's episode should be great. Ha, yep, totally agree.
December 11, 201510 yr Author I think people were worried when they heard this would be the topic because they thought the podcast would be sympathetic towards Bowe, like they were (for the most part) with Adnan. I didn't get that impression at all though in the first episode. It probably helps that Sarah isn't the one interviewing Bowe. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
December 11, 201510 yr I still think this podcast is very compelling as basically a modern rashomon (though without anyone being witness). Take normal people in an extreme situation where the truth is obscured, and try to get as close as you can to what the truth could be. It's just really compelling entertainment on truth and doubt and storytelling.
December 11, 201510 yr I think there is more to the story than he just walked of base to make a point. Not sure exactly what that is. I think he may have been losing his mind.
December 11, 201510 yr This seasons content just doesn't intrigue me in the least. Was hoping for more interesting subject matter...just don't care about this guy at all.
December 12, 201510 yr I'm interested in the story because I had never heard of it until I started the season of Serial, but at the same time I'm disappointed that it's a public story with an outcome already. I wanted to hear her investigate another possibly unsolved mystery and have her crack a case. This is just telling a story about someone.
December 14, 201510 yr Katherine Bigelow and Mark Boal are making a movie about this case. Boal worked on the second season of the podcast as a way to share information
December 14, 201510 yr Well, I'm sure with Katherine Bigelow we'll be getting the CIA/Military story they want out.
December 15, 201510 yr He could not sound more full of s***. I've heard a decent amount about this story and I'm curious to see where it'll go, I just can't see how this works out for Bowe.
December 16, 201510 yr Oh yeah probably not but it's related to this season and I guess is a 'potential' spoiler?
December 16, 201510 yr QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) Oh yeah probably not but it's related to this season and I guess is a 'potential' spoiler? I don't think actual news reports (of things that are happening in real life) are spoilers...
December 18, 201510 yr So after episode 2, I'm more pissed about this guy. So much wasted time/money/resources trying to find him. Also, it's pretty wild she was able to find and interview one of the bad guys that held him. Edited December 18, 201510 yr by Jenksismybitch
December 18, 201510 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) Honestly I'm not sure that's the point of the podcast. I was wrong. I think this was the point of the podcast. I am deeply bored with season. I honestly think this would have been a pretty decent 1 hour episode of This american life, but at 12-14 episodes there is no real intrigue here. You have taliban openly lying, his fellow soldiers telling you the truth as is enough "he left willingly and risked our lives" and his bogus story. There's none of the "everyone kind of telling the truth but we can't find the exact truth" of serial season 1.
