June 1, 20169 yr .231/.273/.288 with a 41.8% K% and a .393 BABIP. Why is this guy still getting major league at bats? Isn't it past time to give those at bats to someone like Coats or Hayes?
June 1, 20169 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) He can play first supposedly. But so can Abreu, Frazier, and Saladino. We don't need him.
June 1, 20169 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) But so can Abreu, Frazier, and Saladino. We don't need him. And Shuck worked at first in AAA.
June 1, 20169 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) I think almost everyone on this board has been asking this since opening day. To be fair, it seems like most wanted Travis Ishikawa, and we all see how that worked out.
June 2, 20169 yr QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) But so can Abreu, Frazier, and Saladino. We don't need him. Yep. I have no idea why he's still on the roster. If May showed us anything, it's that we'd be better off using that roster spot on an extra bullpen arm.
June 2, 20169 yr QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:13 PM) Yep. I have no idea why he's still on the roster. If May showed us anything, it's that we'd be better off using that roster spot on an extra bullpen arm. We had a 3 man bench a lot of May. Are you saying only go with a catcher and Rollins? Haha
June 2, 20169 yr One reason that teams don't continue to shuffle in minor league players to see if they can cut it is that once promoted, players start to acquire rights as member of a major league roster - not only league minimum salary, but also healthcare and pension benefits. I'm not sure how much that applies to the current players we have but I would like to see Jason Coats and Danny Hayes brought up and Shuck and Sands sent down or released. I would also like to see Tim Anderson brought up and Rollins traded or released. Again, there are a lot of financial considerations in making moves like that, which is why we don't see them made more often.
