  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) I believe the question was not what numbers will he put up...but what numbers would he have to put up for someone to be willing to, ahem, "shine his knob". Huge Numbers, and maybe this guys got the G herp, whos to say, but they gotta be staggering numbers
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 12:09 AM) 395 career major league ABs, .230/.316/.425/.741, 85 OPS+ 365 career major league ABs, .268/.324/.315/.639, 67 OPS+ If one of these guys wins an OF job he'll hit in the bottom 3rd of the order so even if he doesn't live up to expectations he won't be logging a ton of PAs. If the other guy wins an OF job he'll be leading off so if he doesn't live up to the team's expectations he'll be logging the most PAs in the batting order (if he plays everyday) and he'll be making outs in front of the best hitters in the lineup. touche salesman
  3. If Quentin reaches his potential thats awesome. I hope that he does and we don't have to start owens in left. But I'm not quite ready to shine his knob as some fans are doing. There is a good shot at a break out year for him, but at the same time it is just as likely for jerry owens to bat 280 with 50 sbs, so he should not be excluded from considerations.
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) How does he deserve a shot more than Quentin? Past Results
  5. I excited about his talent as well, but I'm waiting til spring to pass judgment on whos starting. Owens deserves a shot just as much if not more than quentin.
  6. I thought I read a long time ago that talking about the hiney bird guy was not allowed on soxtalk?
  7. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 02:32 AM) I might be in the minority here, but I am very worried about Buehrle next season. The final two months last season, Buehrle was terrible. He couldn't even hit 86 with his fastball. Now, he's never been a flamethrower, but he used to be able to consistently hit 89-90. Plus, he needs to make some adjustments with his stride, it was too short late last season. 86 is fine for buehrle, 88 89 is the usual speed, but that small of a drop you can't be worried about. When he was hitting 91 92 he got shelled and i remember he took some off for more precision with the strike zone. He's young, he's a competitor, and arms get sore a lot, so I think he'll be back in a good way.
  8. I've been seriously watching the sox for the past 7 years and the only players that come to mind are Brian Anderson (even though he swung a haymaker at those bums), and Frank Thomas, but that may be just me, because i'm a kenny williams supporter.
  9. Soxtalk is the best forum in the MLB. I truly appreciate whoever runs this site, it provides tons of information and it is professionally done. However, If the powers that be could allow the F word that would be great, thanks.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) By the way, back onto the original topic of this thread...I think there's certainly 1 way to send Crede to the minors if we wanted to try that. Call it a rehab assignment. Given that he's coming off the 60 day DL I'm sure there's some way to make that work. Whats the purpose of it though? Just so we can continue to search for the best offer? That would be the only thing we could do because crede would be pissed off for sure and want to get the hell out of dodge.
  11. QUOTE(max power @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Brooks Robinson's trade value only goes up, never down. I think hes great too but i don't like his chronic back issues.
  12. This has probably already been addressed but is it possible for crede's trade value to go down because every team knows we have nowhere to play him and we are forced to get rid of him?
  13. I really thought he was going to develop into an awesome defensive player, but he never hit, and i think they said the reason they got rid of him was because the pitchers were all complaining about his receiving skills.
  14. I don't care what kind of nutrition plan hes on, as long as he is adjusting his helmet 100 times every time he steps into the batters box, worrying about how he looks, hes going to suck and i'm going to be driven insane.
  15. I think Jermaine Dye would ace everyone else. Anderson is a panzee. Jenks is lazy. AJ is old and beat up. I think the only person that would have a chance would be carl everett if it would be allowed.
  16. If it doesn't matter if we win more games, andit doesn't matter that we are not wasting lots of money on a not so great talent..aaron rowand all the way i'd love to see him back out there being a bad#ss, but if the result needs to be winning baseball games and then the world series then we need torri hunter for sure..so my answer is torri hunter i guess... i'm sorry rowand
  17. Hat in any direction besides forward looks incredibly dumb. I'm glad you didn't make it to the pros as well. Unless you are an ace and on the sox and can win 20 games
  18. I'm not sure the angels trade was spec or not but every time i heard about it konerko Along with garland was the deal. Which to me makes more sense as far as business goes. I would be against the trade completely though. garland 4 life
  19. I saw him updating the phillies and rockies game with cal ripken and was surprised at how well he did speaking considering that i think hes an idiot. He did stutter and search for words but I think he sound alright. Is it possible he has a future sitting next to hawk harrelson some day? or does the hatred between him and kenny prevent that?
