  1. Past hour
  2. A salary dump when they literally just picked up the salary lol
  3. Big difference in those two players also................. This is a salary dump pure and simple. The official end of the covid era rebuild. Got rid of a 22-40 million dollar contract and an unmotivated enigma of a player. The return is irrelevant.
  4. For years the White Sox have been the last stop for players who are about to retire. It’s really embarrassing to be the last option to stay in the league.
  5. This obviously isnt true. Robert value has gone down every year since 2023. They could have moved him after one bad year and got much more.
  6. Well because acquiring two players is better than paying $2M for him to go away???? Not saying this is a good move, but it's >>>> than not picking up the option.
  7. I would have rather just kept him than trade him for Leury Garcia 2.0 and a random pitcher who will never amount to anything.
  8. I don't know why anyone would have expected more in a return for Robert. He's been pretty bad and/or hurt for years. However, if none of the $20 million is spent on improving the team, it'll be a major disappointment. Yes, I know, be ready to be disappointed. I'm fine with a clean slate of Robert gone. It was tiring seeing him show the occasional glimpse of hope to either snap a hamstring or forget how to swing a bat. As far as Acuna, let him play and see what he's got. This is one of the few teams he would get a shot to play all year in a starting role. We'll see,
  9. Pauley looks like he has some filth at least.
  10. What sucks is that the Mets have been offering the same bum for Robert for a year. The Mets know he sucks, we know he sucks, but for all of Getz’s bluster about picking up Robert’s option and not trading him unless the return is worthwhile, he had to eat the s%*# pie and still take Acuna. I can’t wait to hear Getz’s quotes today trying to polish this turd of an acquisition.
  11. I regret to inform you it’s basically what he has been since 2023.
  12. Did they really manage to spell “bobblehead” wrong?
  13. Awful trade. What a disgusting thing to wake up to. Traded him for a bunch of trash. I’m probably overreacting but whatever.
  14. Honestly, it’s better than nothing
  15. And the Sox marketing team looked at this and are leaning into the meme
  16. I’m not saying you weren’t right. But the Sox are risk averse to the extreme when it comes to pitchers. They would rather trade him for a good return of young cheaper prospects than worry about having to eventually pay him the big bucks and him getting injured all the time. This is the culture the owner built.
  17. So he is going to hit a playoff homer? Hell yeah.
  18. Remember when we argued last winter about Robert’s theoretical free agent value? And you said he was easily worth as much as Bellinger or more? Yea…
  19. Hindsight? Lol, pal, ive been showing data and reasons crochet was a top 3 arm in baseball since his 5th start with the team.
  20. Thanks for sharing. I thought it was at $72 million.
  21. Nah, now that this team signed Murakami, I heard they were all in!
  22. The Sox were worried about Crochet holding up as a starter like you said, but at least they sold him high and got a good return for him. Crochet staying healthy and getting even better with the Red Sox is a big of hindsight. Robert was just traded for the next Leury Garcia. Big difference with these two trades.
  23. Payroll sits at 67 million. Lowest in baseball. We had a higher payroll 22 years ago, for reference.
  24. I mean.... they traded Crochet and then he went on to be the 2nd best pitcher in MLB and led the league in innings pitched. They traded him because of his injury risk and then he was the most durable in baseball. No idea how anyone wouldn't argue the former, especially since I called it from the second he was traded.
  25. A year ago I posited Acuña and Baty felt like a fair return for Robert (was crucified for this take). This return is notably worse.
  26. This you? "I'm coming around to the thought that the White Sox aren't repeatedly marketing Robert and failing, but they made the decision that he's the best option as their CF, and if another team wants to change their plans, it's going to cost them."
