Given how his season went in Seattle you'd think they would have known something was badly wrong. Getz was around for James Shields, you'd think he'd remember how that went based on what Shields was doing that year for San Diego.

This organization has definitely take some big steps forward this year after the last three seasons. But, at the end of the day, it's still a 2nd rate organization where people who have questionable qualifications get put into key leadership positions. Unfortunately, this isn't going to change until at least when Jerry Reinsdorf is no longer in control of this franchise.

From the big acquisition to unpitchable in six weeks is impressive. Even if he had put up his Seattle numbers he could have burned some innings. Instead he hides in the dugout for millions of dollars.

It would help if they could actually keep these pitchers healthy and if not, at least get their rehab right so they don't suffer as many "setbacks"...

That's a big problem. I'm not sure there was much talent to develop. Pitching evaluation that has been less than exemplary; and this weird insistence on goofy deliveries. And no talent signed on the international front.

That was a bad beat down tonight no doubt but the Sox have bounced back all season. I want to see how they respond to this terrible loss.

Three factoids today: September 19, 1925 - The White Sox set the franchise record (since tied) for the largest shutout margin in team history when they blanked the Senators 17-0 at Washington. The game was the back half of a twin bill. Ted Lyons would throw a one-hitter, losing his no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning on a bloop single to right by Bobby Veach over the head of first baseman Earl Sheely. Sheely had the big offensive game for the Sox going 4 for 6 with four RBI’s and two runs scored. The Sox had a seven run, second inning and an eight run, fifth inning. September 19, 1972 – It was one of the wildest games the White Sox ever played. Facing the A’s in Oakland and fighting to stay alive in the pennant race, the Sox beat Oakland 8-7 in 15 innings in a game that took almost five hours to play. The Sox couldn’t hold leads of 5-3 in the ninth inning or 7-5 in the 13th but wound up winning on a George Orta home run.
