CWS Acquire Reliever Cam Booser from BOS
WestEddy replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And if most of Berroa, Varland, Booser, Steven Wilson, Leasure, Anderson, Marinaccio, Murfee all sh*t the bed and end up being DFAed, then yeah, I would start to look askance at Katz. -
I could also see a few 6-man rotations, just to get these guys their work.

He's a lefty bullpen arm with 2-3 years of control at the league minimum. I would really be surprised if the White Sox hold onto him for 6 years. -
He's coming in with a promise that he is competing for a rotation spot. And why not?
-
At that point, why not just say you think the team will go 0-162?

Some of you guys are obsessed with blaming anybody for your misery. You possess the keys to your own happiness. -

You keep saying 5 years of control, but I don't believe he logged a full season in the bigs, 2024. It's conceivable he never reaches free agency in his career. -
It's as if they think Reinsdorf has a sign on the wall he keeps tapping, reading, "Remember our goal is to suck, cheaply".

Depending on the type of waivers, they can pull him back and keep him on the 40-man for a period of time. Knowing he would be grabbed right up, they probably just worked out a trade. -

In the White Sox' 3-17 start to 2024, 12 of 20 of those games saw the bullpen crumble and give up runs, late. That bullpen was built on a lot of bounce back hopes, and it performed accordingly. I could certainly see Getz building a stronger bullpen to open this season, knowing that this year, we have a good dozen options crowding the AAA pitching staff. We have depth this year we just didn't have last year. I feel that in Booser, Marinaccio, Penn Murfee, Steven Wilson, you have a more stable situation coming into the season, with guys you can trade instead of just cycling through. I don't like trading Fajardo, just as I didn't like trading Luis Rodriguez for Corey Julks. My belief is that we've moved on from bringing in a bus load of rehab dudes, and now we're onto solid options who can actually be traded at the TDL. -

The Red Sox ran into a 40-man crunch with the signing of Patrick Sandoval. -
I think it might be the same factor that played into the wan interest for Fedde at the TDL. GMs love those gaudy, double digit K/9 rates.
-
Oppor seemed to have a hard time of it in the Complex League. Jake Peppers could probably return to the Kannapolis rotation to cut his walk rate. But yeah, there's so many interesting arms in the system. Bockenstedt might just be depth who tops out in AA, but I didn't hear anything about Tommy Vail having a long term issue. Vail probably starts out at winston-salem.

As I said, I don't like trading Fajardo. I never heard of Booser before this trade, but it sure seems like they're trying to not go into 2025 with the BP issues they had last year. And if Booser's as impressive as it sounds like, they can get a couple pieces when it's time to move him. -

Yes, he will be part of the next playoff team. And if not, players we get in trade for him will. I never heard anybody say that Burger was "too old", and that's why he was traded. I heard that KW hated Hostetler and he hated the Burger pick. If you're using Romy Gonzalez as a comparison, then I guess you're saying that one day, Fajardo will have a good season as a bullpen arm when a manager figures out how to use him in ways that he doesn't get exposed, and clobbered. -

I'm not understanding. Are you saying that no pitcher who has been described as having closer or setup upside has ever been successful? Or are you using one single example to say that the White Sox should never make trades to upgrade their bullpen? Neither make much sense. -

Booser throws 96. Maybe they see closer upside. Or at least lefty setup upside. If he's that, they can trade him for two Fajardos in July. -

Yhoiker Fajardo - 17 year old struck out 64 in 50 innings in the DSL. Actually an interesting prospect. -

Let's see if this burner account is any more accurate... I think I like this less than Tyler Schweitzer. -

If it's Schweitzer, this is one trade I do not like at the outset. I hope Bannister sees something huge in this Booser dude. -

I said Jonathan Cannon, at one point, but yeah, why not deal from strength in a crazy pitching market?
-
At one point, I would have considered Jonathan Stiever a starting pitching prospect. Injuries. They happen.

Easier, still, to pretend that a 3rd party is controlling their own actions, a team owner forces them to dump on any comment, like a slap in the face, over and over. It's always weird how those who get mad for being called out for constant negativity don't accept that a bad team owner has made the generally positive person push back on them. Bad owners are only to blame for their own aggressive actions.
