  1. Three very good starts against the hot hot Twins. All three winnable. Maybe Kopech has decided to quit losing winnable games for us. That would be nice.
  2. Zach Wheeler's one. A guy like Michael Brantley would have been a nice addition in 2019, instead of Yonder Alonso and Jon Jay.
  3. They are 5.5 back of the Red Sox with two teams between them, but yeah, there's still a lot of baseball to play.
  4. I look forward to the day that Eloy isn't standing at home plate, looking at strike two and strike three in a Sox uniform.
  5. Who, Fedde or Kopech? Kopech's a head case, and Fedde is a very solid starter, right now. top 10-15?
  6. He will spend on what his GM tells him will help the club win. Within his own limits. I don't think he needs to grab up every single 10/$400m FA on the market. He needs a GM who can find players away from the top of the market that can produce. We'll see if Getz is that guy.
  7. Behind Crochet, Fedde's going to be one of the best starting pitchers on the market. Kopech still has that stuff, as evidenced by his immaculate inning today.
  8. It's not being upset when somebody doesn't like the job Getz is doing. It's when somebody spends the whole day framing a 27th man call-up as stupid, a mistake, etc, when it's just an innocuous move. It's when a person muses that "nobody can defend" calling up the only infielder on the 40-man when an infielder is needed, when again, it's just an innocuous move. We all get it. You don't like Getz. You come off as silly when you desperately frame every. single. move. as bad, panicky, stupid, etc.
  9. We're probably more alike than you'd care to admit.
  10. Ramos was the only infielder left on the 40-man when they needed an infielder on the big club. He held his own for a week or so, then the league adjusted to him. I see no harm in giving a guy on the 40-man the cup of coffee so he understands the speed of the pro game as he progresses at AAA. The move wasn't a "turd". If Mendick is gone, who replaces him? Somebody who isn't ready? Do they trade for a utility infielder so they have someone who is ready? Most of the stuff you go on and on about for a day isn't anything that needs to be defended. Bringing up a 27th man, a 5th OF, demoting a starting pitcher who has been adjusted to, and can't get out of the 2nd inning, whatever. It's going to be a 115-120 loss team. Getz should be rummaging through the system to see if anybody can play the game right now. I don't think you have any idea if Sheets has value. You should probably seek out the context of my Julks comment. I've been acknowledging he's probably the weak side of a platoon for a while now.
  11. I'm not sure what me saying that Sheets is a lefty bench bat that has value, I would pencil Julks into next year's lineup, or that Zavala is an example of the Sox developing the defensive part of a catcher's game has anything to do with this. You've been braying all day about how stupid Getz is for bringing up players that aren't ready, yet you never disagree with the admins who scream for all minor leaguers to be brought up to "learn" at the major league level. Why is that?
  12. You're dealing with people who are like a 2-year-old who just learned the power of the word "no". You can say that Garret Crochet has been selected to the All-Star team, and they'll find something to argue against that.
  13. It's weird how you never argue with the admins who scream that we should bring up all of our minor leaguers and let them "learn" at the major league level. It's almost like you don't really believe what you're posting.
  14. You should probably read the whole string. I state that Hostetler did not have "good" draft classes. They developed what they could.
  15. I have no idea what you're arguing here. I have shown that they concentrated on pitching in the 2020, 2021, and 2022 drafts, and that endeavor is already showing success at the ML level.
  16. I guess you're going to keep bouncing around until you say a sentence that cannot be disputed. And you are correct. Outside of Garret Crochet, they haven't draft and developed any "stars" on this current team.
  17. Yes, and yes. Building a future playoff contender starts with building a strong minor league system. And the process has already started to build a strong minor league system, as evidenced by the players I've mentioned previously.
  18. In the 5-round draft of 2020, they took 5 pitchers. In 2021, 10 of the first 12 picks were pitchers. 2022, 6 of the first 7 were pitchers. So, it's fair to say they concentrated on pitching, first. Of those 4 drafts, 2 of the starting pitchers in their rotation have been drafted and developed. One made the All-Star team. I think that's evidence of good drafting and development on the pitching side. I don't think you really believe that a player selected in the last draft or two should be starting at the major league level, yet. So you're judging the entire development system on two high school infielders taken at 1 at & 2 in 2021, and a glove first college SS taken in the 4th round in 2022. 2 offensive players drafted by the White Sox from 2021 onward are now at AAA. But the entire system is suspect until they're making All-Star teams. I agree that they won't be competitive next year. I don't think it will take until 2031, either. The trades they make this TDL and winter meetings will net some offensive prospects closer to the bigs.
  19. He certainly hasn't lived up to his first round pedigree, but he has positive bWAR, and his fWAR has been dinged hard for playing RF.
  20. Again, I'm not going to play the game of "tee-hee, you can't make me say yes" with you. I have tried to show that the list of names at A ball are different than the warm bodies thrown out there during Hostetler's time drafting. These are players who are dominating their level, and playing their way to the next, not just being promoted to make room for the next draft class. MLB players have taken clear steps forward in their approaches to hitting. Korey Lee and Gavin Sheets are two examples. Lenyn Sosa holding his own is another. Colson Montgomery wasn't a big name that fell to the Sox. He was an unknown who they developed into a top 20 prospect. No, I can't show you a list of 5 year major leaguers. Again, it's not accurate to deride a development system that you know has changed and is producing hitters until they have All-Stars multiple years.
