Getz: "We are... building from the ground, up"
If you can't get over it, then you can't get over it. I don't find myself getting outraged if a player doesn't actually "stay within himself" or consider myself lied to if they didn't present "the best version of themselves". For the most part, sports people have nothing of value to say. I wasn't duped by their remarks. We all knew it was a rebuild. I get not wanting one's intelligence insulted. Nobody believes the Sox won in 2000 because of the White Flag trade that basically netted two relievers, a shortstop who didn't stick long, and a few cup-of-coffee arms. After every July '97 loss, all Ozzie Guillen or Roberto Hernandez could talk about wasn't the game they just lost, but trade rumors. That team was infuriatingly average and couldn't get out of their own way. It was great to have an owner get fed up and just trade guys out of his frustration with a middling team. One of the high points of Reinsdorf's tenure. I don't know what "if youre consistently the future" means.

Getz: "We are... building from the ground, up"
There are fans on this site who still haven't gotten over Reinsdorf's brutally honest remarks in a radio interview right after the White Flag trade in 1997. People's reactions clearly dictate that they want to hear corporate CYA double-speak.

White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
He's been announced last week. You've opined on the many forms of Marinaccio's name you can conceive at the time of his DFA trade to make room for Perez.

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
I'm not understanding. Cannon, Martin, Perez, Wilson and Burke seem like the likeliest 5 contenders for the rotation. I don't think Schultz, Hagen Smith or Grant Taylor are realistic candidates for the OD roster. I've not heard Berroa being discussed as a starter, and I think they like Shuster in long relief. Iriarte and Nastrini are both kind of "next man up", as is Ky Bush.

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
Obviously, there's a difference. The Sox are rebuilding, this isn't a surprise. I'm not sure why you're throwing shade on Perez. Weird that you're picking on the one Hispanic guy in the rotation. You have 5 guys who are penciled into the OD rotation. Shane Smith is a possibility for starts. Thorpe has "discomfort", so until he's put on the IL, I'll count him. Iriarte, Wikelman, Nastrini, Bush. Last year, you really had 5 options, and one wasn't ready to start the season. I'll say this year you have 7 realistic options, and one might be down. There is nobody in the Sox' top 10 options that Clevenger is worth replacing. Chris Flexen's still out there if somebody comes up short.

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
2024 saw the White Sox leave ST with about 2.5 starting pitchers. For the upcoming season, we already have 7-10 options on the big club, or in AAA. There is no gaping void in the rotation that Clevenger might fill. I'm not sure why you're even bringing him up. Karinchak is an idiot. He's not on the odious level of a child abuser. Added: As Scholtens returns from TJS, I doubt he does anything before June.

Sox are getting 6 on MLB Pipeline list
Baseball America - Players are eligible if they have not exceeded 130 MLB at-bats, 50 innings pitched or 30 pitching appearances. Service time does not play a role in whether players are eligible for this ranking. Players who come to the U.S. as “foreign professionals” as defined by the MLB CBA are not eligible to be ranked. MLB - The list only includes players with rookie status in 2025, meaning players who debuted in '24 but did not accumulate the service time (45 days on the active roster), at-bats (130) or innings pitched (50) to graduate are eligible again this year.

You are so close to getting the point. Which you never will. It's great that you can say that you're sorry about what I've endured. But you will never understand that you have a world of joy and fulfillment, and you're complaining that one tenth of one percent of a lifetime of fulfillment isn't also about the other 99.9% of your life. And that you're surrounded by people who will listen to people with kids complain about that 0.1% not being about their kids and will respectfully remain silent, while they're reminded of the 100% of their life that they don't get to share with their kids. Even when we're getting scolded about missing a birthday party, or not buying their kid a gift that would mean so much to them, because I'm being scolded about not helping them parent, but also for being a failure. I am truly thankful for the empathy, and for you taking the time to walk me through what I'm not getting. I probably seem bitter, but I am thankful. But once you get that other part, let me know. I know parenting is hard. I admire you guys for it.

Now, and I know this is really hard, consider people who have tried to have kids and didn't, and apply this sentence to them. I am truly sorry that I was flippant about parenting. My wife and I would have loved to have had the problem of trying to get kids to be into something we are. Didn't happen. But you would know nothing about that issue, so I suggest that you crawl off of your soapbox, and drop it.

Anthony Santander signs with TOR 5/$92.5
Seeing you calling me names 4 days later tells me that I surely must have said something wrong. So, I'll apologize, and say that I'll never say anything to you about your kids again. I was wrong. Sorry.

That's a valid conversation. I have nephews, and bonded with them through sports after their dad (my brother) died. I took them to see some pretty bad Bulls teams right after Jordan and Pippen left. Easy way to spend time. I don't really like going on a fishing trip. I don't like to camp. However, that was a way to spend time with my brother and his sons, so I went on, and participated in the annual fishing trip. Because I wanted to spend the time with them. I'm going to stop there, because I don't want to get accused of anything else. I'm sorry that Jerry Reinsdorf does that to you and your family.

Me, too. Not college. I decided in Sophomore year at Gordon Tech that I was going to read the old Testament. It really resets what you know about religion and the world. And if you're really into it, there's a book called "No God But God" about Islam, by Reza Aslan, that details the history of Islam, and how it resonates, today. Seriously, I've gotten into deep conversations with cab drivers based on that book that have changed my life. Like, the Book of Daniel still has ramifications on the middle east today.

Then you should use your own powers to walk the anger back. Spend your online time posting bible quotes. Preferably, not ones directing David to forcibly circumcise the Philistines. Just as an aside, if you're at all religious, I'd suggest starting at Genesis, and reading the bible. I'm not, but it's an awesome read.

White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
Yeah, it's like next man up. Sosa and Vargas are on the clock. Sh*t or get off the pot.

Hasn't Myanmar unblocked the MLB website, yet, so you can post from your PC? I'm sure 29 other GMs are kneeling on the floor, crying, that they didn't pick Schultz, or have Getz's personal abiltiy to chew up worms, and spit them into his mouth, and help him grow into THE BEST FUCKING PITCHING PROSPECT IN THE FUCKING MAJORS!!!!!!!

When somebody keeps whining about sports, and uses their kids as a reason to dish, saying the kids might need therapy is a kind, loving response. If you think therapy is a put down, you might just have a problem that needs addressing. And if your response validates violence, you could probably use a good, long sit down, and a talk about your motivations, yourself. Therapy is good. Suggesting therapy is like suggesting breathing, or a spa-day. You're welcome.

Thorpe is TBD for spring training??
Rodon even admitted he never took his off-season conditioning programs seriously.
-
Thorpe is TBD for spring training??
Pitching injuries happen. I would need to see data that proves the Sox are any worse than the rest of the league. The Dodgers need 10+ starters, because half of them are always on the IL. Maybe this is your way of telling us the Sox are getting closer to the world series.
-
Thorpe is TBD for spring training??
Dude, every single pitcher on the Dodgers is practically injured at all times. Injuries happen.
-
Thorpe is TBD for spring training??
Bone spurs on his elbow. They were scraped, and he was supposed to be ready for spring training.

Getz: "We are... building from the ground, up"
Yes we do. Quero and Teel project as average major leaguers (50 FV) and C. Monty projects as 55 FV, slightly above average. Yes, it's good to have multiple layers of good players at multiple positions. You keep saying it like it's folly to have depth. I understand you have to constantly portray everything in a bad light or else you'll be branded as "pro-Getz" (shudder), but minor league depth is literally the entire point of a tiered minor league system. Yes, under the ex-GM, the ex-amateur scouting director did, indeed, draft a 2B, 3B and 1B with their top draft picks. The current amateur scouting director has drafted 7 pitchers, 3 SS's and a 3B in the first 2 rounds of the last 5 drafts. Vaughn was 6 drafts ago, and Sheets was 9. Meidroth played SS all of last season.

I thought auto-correct played a trick on me, but I clearly said "serviceable". I'm pretty sure we're in agreement.

Okay, we'll just put you down as "not understanding depth".
