  1. Mic drops are fun, until we're knee-deep in microphones.
  2. I have no idea where you're going, here. Are you now saying that the Sox don't use networking to hire people? You just seem to be arguing anything.
  3. Walt Hriniak had a .586 lifetime OPS in 111 pro plate appearances. Nobody believes that a hitting instructor must have won multiple batting titles in order to be able to teach hitting.
  4. 50-80% of all jobs are filled through networking. I can understand thinking that an assistant minor league hitting instructor is a job that requires many rounds of interviews in order to get the perfect guy to be the best assistant hitting instructor, but like most entry level jobs, you just want a guy who will listen and learn to do the job the way you want it done. If he doesn't pick it up, you have dozens of new candidates next December.
  5. Doesn't he also own half the neighborhood from the proceeds of that charity?
  6. Baseball players spend their entire lives learning and honing a few, otherwise unmarketable skills. The fact that Adam Engel, Trayce Thompson, Kevan Smith, Daniel Palka and Tyler Saladino aren't all coaches for the White Sox tells me they're somewhat discerning on the prerequisites for the job.
  7. I'm really not sure what Caulfield is doing. He seems to be praising Paddy, while mocking his contributions.
  8. Oh well. He's our prospect, now. The Dodgers paid him $10k, and we basically got him for free. Pretty good deal.
  9. Are we rooting for "scout of the year" awards? Is that even a thing? Can you post those odds?
  10. I think it's generally accepted that the Sox targeted the odd 21+ year old Cuban who defected, not 13 year old kids who would sign in 3 years. I don't believe they started out the year looking for takers for their international slots. They hung on to it in the event there was a showcase, then if they didn't use it, they'd trade the surplus. Weird how Getz doesn't have the "don't sign 16-year-old Dominicans" handcuffs that Paddy did. You appear to be mourning Paddy, right now.
  11. I'm glad he's gone. David Keller looks more aggressive than Paddy ever was. Total upgrade.
  12. But all the dour-heads still mourn the exit of Marco Paddy. Strange how Getz is working to expand their reach, and everybody complains harder.
  13. Aldrin Batista is a legit prospect. Maximo Martinez could be. No need to make excuses for great moves. More of that, please.
  14. It's funny that people being light-hearted about the Sox makes you so desperately angry.
  15. SS2k5 was deeply saddened that Marco Paddy was let go despite the great job he had done for over a decade.
  16. They're all quite driven. Most of them want to become scientists when they grow up so they can find a cure for whatever makes "old stinky butt" so illogical and angry.
  17. And the first-graders asked if you were Stranger Danger.
  18. They did. And I showed them this string. They were profoundly surprised by the irony of nobody criticizing Cleveland having $2M unspent, and using it to move Myles Straw's contract, instead of taking a gamble on any player. It's very cute when 6-year-olds ask you if all of the negative Nellies (as they called them) were burner accounts for people in the Guardians' front office. They also voted overwhelmingly that you're "a stinky butt". Kids.
  19. You got a weird way of referring to yourself in the third person, no one.
  20. They could sign every man, woman and child in the DR for $10k each and not touch their international pool.
  21. A guy like Keller walks into a job, and he can't go back in time and shake a 13 year old's hand 3 years ago. Good thing the guy who was supposed to line up the signings for the 2024 period is gone.
  22. I agree. Also of note to the people screaming for the Sox to sign dudes in the last weeks of December with what's left in their allotment, all the known guys are signed. It's like we want them to scour the beaches for young guys throwing rocks in the water, and if somebody looks like a pitcher, give him $100k.
  23. Bad omen? I'd just think Cruz should think about progressing, or he may not get the requisite 6 years to fade that previous signings have gotten.
  24. This truly is the doldrums. The Sox Twitter feed I set up is all Bears' head coaching arguments.
