4/9 Sox @ Guardians 5:10PM CT
It's a bit early to declare the trade a failure. Let's wait to see how many innings Soroka covers and what Lopez looks like in a couple months.

That was Bummer's value. Please tell me about all these "2 top 100 prospects" packages that were out there for Aaron Bummer.

You just watched him get Josh Naylor to pop out.

I actually don't even mind Robert and Eloy being out. I'm happy to see Fletcher, Lee and Sosa getting any ML at-bats.

I still am that way, too. It's like getting pissed because Dunkin Donuts changed their ad campaign. It's a consumable commodity. Reinsdorf will die, and the kids will sell. Then another deplorable billionaire who wants to kill democracy will own the team, buy 6 players, then think they have the magic sword to destroy the union. You're rooting for the feces of billionaires.- 4/9 Games
It would be cool if they staggered the off days for the different levels.- 4/9 Games
At least Norfolk moved on. Now maybe some ERAs and WHIPs will regress to the mean.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
I don't think a single person was like, "Yes, go get Paul Dejong, now!! Yes!!!!" You think "I get what he's trying to do" equals "Yes, I love this!!!"- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
He OPSed .736 in the first half, .426 in the 2nd.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
Do you have answers for these, or am I supposed to guess? He's a clubhouse cancer? Then somebody else. Independent leagues will start up soon. Again, if you have players who will OPS under .500, I'm sure there's somebody in AAA on a minor league deal, somebody trying to come back in Gary, or Schaumburg, who can hit better than that. Some team will replace their own Paul DeJong with their hotshot rookie, and they'll trade their DeJong.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
If Benny, DeJong, Lopez and Maldonado are all "historically" bad, you don't think anybody has an OF at AAA they'd trade who could do better? Tommy Pham's out there. He could replace Pillar, and knock Benny to the bench.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
If you really think this team is going to go 18-144, I don't know what to say. I don't think Benintendi, Yoan, Vaughn, Grossman, Eloy, DeJong, Lopez and Maldonado will become different hitters, hit .400 and start knocking out HRs. Before yesterday's game, 5 of their starters were OPSing under .500. They'll either clean that up, or get replaced by guys who hit.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
They're a bad team going through a streak, IMO. They should be picking one or two off in KC, and getting swept by the Braves. The pitching looks good enough.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
I always hated when people pulled this performative BS at work. You're not being less productive, or focused to walk outside and look up in the air for 10 seconds.- 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
At this point, if Shew and Sosa are considered "glove men", they should both be starting, and keep Lopez as the backup. The double platoon seems wasteful of roster spots, both 26 and 40-man.- Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
If the game he threw against Atlanta is what a healthy, built-up Crocket can do regularly, I don't think teams would/can pay what he's worth, and I don't think Getz would sell low on the injury risk. That's better than Cease's ceiling, in my opinion. Cease is more durable, but Crochet has a dominance I never felt with Cease.- Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
Sure. I just don't know how teams would treat that. They certainly don't want to trade a couple prospects for a dude, and have him break down 3 weeks later.- Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
I would think that anyone acquiring Crochet would have to factor in a probable innings limit. They wouldn't bring him in for the pennant push, unless they were going to throw him in their bullpen.- 4/7 Game thread
I honestly think that if Grifol got the boot, Justin Jirschele would ascend to the MLB manager's seat. If not this year, then next. I like Ozzie. I don't think he completely burnt out his team, but he completely ruined his reputation by hanging Dunn out to dry during a career slump, then Ozzie quit on the team due to contract garbage. The more I type, the more I realize he would never be asked to manage again. Unless, of course, if Reinsdorf thought it would light a spark...- 4/7 Game thread
@chitownsportsfan, I don't know what the Tony LaRussa emoji means. Are you drinking and driving?- 4/7 Game thread
I don't think he wore out the team like Ditka. The lack of 2nd chances probably stems from the Castro remarks and his calling Jay Mariotti bad names. Motivated, I think Ozzie could get the most out of these guys. They don't have the sluggers, so maybe they could eke out an extra run or two a game and win a few.- 4/7 Game thread
So you're saying, they should fire him tonight, but promise him a good reference, and they won't challenge his unemployment?- 4/7 Game thread
Dude, I 100% agree with you on that.- 4/7 Game thread
No team is good as they look on a winning streak, and they're not as bad as they look on a losing streak. We can all play the game of, "Oh noes!!! Will they win 10 games?!? I am so forlorned!!" Without looking it up, I seem to remember Salvy being not as bad, defensively, as Maldonado. They need anybody to start hitting. - 4/8 Sox @ Cleveland (4:10CT) - Banks vs. McKenzie
