Pedro is a fucking loser, but then again this is a fucking loser organization so it's a compatible marriage.

But there's no path to winning now. It's totally foreclosed. At absolute best, they could win 70 and even that is highly unlikely, so if Pedro thinks Nastrini will help him save his job he's wrong. The only reason Pedro wouldn't be fired is JR doesn't want to pay 2 managers at once.

We have an owner unwilling to pay for pitching unless a young player is dumb enough to sign a JR special extension. When we have a promising young pitcher we need to squeeze every year out of him that we can because if he's any good he will leave in FA.

Why aren't they keeping Nastrini down for service time? It would be dumb to have him on the OD roster. It's not like they are going to win anything either way.

In terms of SV, SD gave up 44 for 42, so I suppose in that respect it's "fair" but I would have expected a larger premium than just 2m. I think the main problem is the allocation of the 44m. I'd prefer more quality than quantity. I'd rather have Snelling, Zavala and someone worth about 8m than Iriarte and the reliever. I would have preferred holding him till July and taking the injury risk as opposed to getting what we did.

LMAO @ Aly claiming she never saw control for him over 55 anywhere and fangraphs (presumably the first place one would look) has it at 70. I'm not a fan of Thorpe as the headliner or this trade overall, but she is either arguing in outright bad faith, or is trying to be the female Ron.

If they were really focused on pitching they should have come away with Snelling. The opposing GM is at extreme risk of being fired and good SP thats cost controlled is at a premium. Getz got the ball first and goal at the 5 and ended up making a 45 yard field goal after a couple dumb calls and a holding penalty.

Of all the return, Zavala is the most promising. Still disappointed/pissed at the overall return.

Nah. This is on balance relatively weak. Snelling should be the headliner. Zavala is interesting and very advanced for age. Wish he had more power projection. I wouldn't say Preller destroyed Getz, but he did, at a minimum, give him a bad cold. Either way, I think @Balta1701 and @baseball_gal_aly are basically right on balance. Sad but true.
