  1. Agreed. They need a LHP in the rotation too since I don't think Shuster will be in the top 5 and apparently 2/28 was somehow too much for Manaea.
  2. Sox writer speculates package will need to be Jones and Hampton https://www.soxon35th.com/report-yankees-ready-to-make-a-trade-for-cease/
  3. IMO....they will be forced to sign one of the big two and cave in to Boras to quell fan demand which is fine with me. IMO it would prolly be Snell cause Montgomery wants to be in TEX.
  4. NYY fans NERVOUS.....haha I love it. IMO if he has 70-75 game power he should still be able to get to a good part of it with 45 hit. 30-40 HRs is a reasonable expectation and solid D in RF with some wheels too is very good as a headliner. Get Hampton or Warren as the 2nd piece and we will be in good shape.
  5. What do people prefer if these were the competing offers: NYY: Jones, Hampton/Warren, Lombard/Lalane BAL: Cowser/Kjerstad, Ortiz/Norby, Povich I have my doubts Elias will actually sack up. I'd be very happy with a NYY deal centered around Jones and one of their best pitchers.
  6. Wouldn't that take them out of Snell tho?
  7. Now that he's signed does this warm up the market for Eloy? I'm not expecting much but something is better than nothing.
  8. There have been conflicting reports on the Reds thing. Lowder, Petty, Arroyo, Phillips plus someone else is certainly excessive. But the other report....Lowder, Petty, Jorge and Stafura....thats actually pretty reasonable.
  9. 2 Top 100 plus two others is very reasonable...thats pretty much the framework we've been working off (ie Cowser/Kjerstad, Ortiz/Norby, Povich, lotto ticket). I'm fine with the 4th piece being a lotto ticket so long as the 3rd piece is a solid prospect. Certainly should not take less than that.
  10. Addition by subtraction. Thank God Haber is out.
  11. Yeah that's basically it and Hal cares about money a whole lot more than his Dad so he's likely pushing Cashman towards the Cease option rather than getting into another bad contract. Or at least that's my hope.
  12. Lots of good stuff but Cease is definitely getting moved, esp if NYY gets shut out for the 2 big FA SPers.
  13. Jones/Dominguez plus 2 pitchers or Jones/Dominguez, one pitcher and one if their SS prospects. Harold said NYY was being aggressive so perhaps Jones is part of this package and if so I'd be happy with that. True LH savage and won't accrue service time during lean years.
  14. Bradfield >>>>>>>>>> Gonzalez. I'm not even going to defend the selection we made now that it turns out the 55 hit tool we thought we were getting is really a 20.
  15. @Quin was right, IMO. If Dylan Cease led the league in swords and if Coby Mayo is somehow more valuable, shouldn't the latter have at least led the minors in shields? Riddle us that, Oriole fans...
  16. Link? There are no limits on left handed savagery here. None. If a LHH struggles with a LHP, that's what batting practice is for. Work it out and get to being at least passable vs LHP. Wasn't that one of the earlier issues with Cowser that he couldn't hit LHP and then he worked on it and I read his OPS vs LHP improved quite a bit. The answer to the LHP isn't to get righty bats in the lineup. The answer is to work on it. I have zero qualms with 9 savages in the lineup.
  17. To be fair, if we are going to go with fWAR, it has both the indomitable Kyle Bradish and the Boy Wonder Grayson Rodriguez as sub 3 fWAR pitchers in 2024 too. So from my vantage point, you're up s%*# creek without a paddle and you will need to pay a significant prospect price for SP, whether it's Cease or someone else. There's no way around it, unless you're fine with significant regression from last year.
  18. That's why it would be great to rob them of Anthony and Teel. I think now that they have Grissom, they would want to move Yorke, but he's more of a third piece than second piece. I still have my doubts they'd move Anthony or Mayer, but I could see them offering a package of Rafaela, Teel and Yorke and maybe a pitcher as a 4th piece.
  19. Harold, do you think they are still gonna wait till after Snell/Montgomery sign or has NYY kind of pushed the chips into the middle so they can do something upfront?
  20. Yep....he also mentioned we are staying "open minded" on the composition of the return and it doesnt necessarily have to be pitching heavy. That was encouraging to read.
  21. You're forgetting that Getz hates savagery.
