Perhaps Jimmy was right. Maybe we should just focus on a quantity package with BAL at this point because of the various issues involved with the top prospects or perhaps just focus on using BAL as a scare tactic for other clubs. IMO Getz top priority should be NYY. Harold suggested LAD are still in it but indicated when they were offering Busch earlier, they refused to add a pitcher. IMO, most of us wanted a 3 headliner package (because all their guys have significant flaws) of like SP, Busch and Pages, but if they were only offering 1, it seems unlikely a deal can be had. Even a compromise at 2 doesn't seem to work. SP plus Pages doesn't address the LHS need. A SP plus Rushing is kind of duplicative with Quero who is closer to MLB than Rushing and I think Getz wants to actually address other spots. Two SPs means 2B and RF are still a black hole. LAD doesn't look like a fit anymore. It's NYY, maybe STL in the background, BOS if they are willing to deal from their top 3 or a quantity package from BAL including Beavers, Bradfield, Horvath, Povich, McDermott and another prospect.

But...but Ortiz has more value than Schultz, or so I was told.

I get the sense you must have heard it's Westburg, Beavers and something else. I sure hope the something else is two other really good pieces.

Why? We value that all the time...why should we ignore it now?

Jimmy I know you mentioned Horvath also recently. I'm warming more and more to a quantity package here. I read Horvath has a good bat and is projected to have a very good glove and has played both 2B and 3B. Instead of getting the IFer as the first or second piece and blowing alot of the value that way, maybe we just get a quantity package, and you get Beavers, Horvath, Povich, Bradfield, McDermott and maybe another piece.

Very doubtful they will include both Westburg AND one of Cowser/Kjerstad.

If the headliner is Westburg then no it's not "a good one". LHS is priority one. If he has put Cowser/Kjerstad and Ortiz/Norby on the table that is a good offer and perhaps the reports earlier are true that we are just haggling over the third piece. If BAL really does have a "good" offer on the table, this will pressure NYY to really make a "very good" offer....Cashman is on the hot seat.

If it's either or, you don't do a deal with NYY, or if you do, you take Jones, have Warren as the second piece and insist on quality third AND fourth pieces. These are mid to back end Top 100 guys they both should be in the package. I want Lalane (high upside LHP) as the third piece and Vivas as the fourth piece (strongside platoon 2B). If that means Warren instead of Hampton as the 2nd piece ok, but I want 4 quality pieces from NY and chief among them must be the left handed savage OF.

And BTW it will take closer to 60m in SV from that site rather than 40m due to the premium for pitching. So yeah if it were Jones by himself for Cease I'd say no. You gotta throw in Hampton or Warren as the second piece and if Warren is the second piece then you need a quality third piece like Lalane or Vivas. As far as BAL goes, that site values Cowser alot more than Kjerstad (prolly cause of D, OBP, superior hit tool, speed etc). If Chicago accepts Kjerstad instead of Cowser, the rest of the package will be quite significant.

Kjerstad is a left handed savage. Westburg is not. So no they don't have similar upside. IMO...you are tough to figure out....sometimes you engage people in legit discussion and sometimes you say objectively stupid s%*# and then I get the sense that you've just been trolling the whole time.

A mega package of any 8 prospects outside of the top 5 works too.

If all 5 are off limits, it will need to be a prospect quantity package that is soooooo extensive it would give Elias and Mejdal severe heartburn. Like 7-8 guys and none of them are scrubs. Ortiz/Norby, Beavers, Povich, Bradfield, McDermott, Horvath, Baumeister, De Leon.

Montgomery 2, Ramos 3, Kjerstad 4 could be special esp if Ramos is the monster Law thinks he can be. If they can pull Bradfield as the third piece, he would be the leadoff guy. Good OBP and great speed.

Well...logically if the top piece is settled the second piece is also settled cause they have to move at least one of Norby/Ortiz cause there's no space so I don't see an issue from their perspective there. So then that means the holdup is the third piece. They want one of Povich, Beavers or Bradfield (Robert trade next year?) and Elias is saying no to any of them as the third piece. So basically it's a staredown over the third piece. Is that right @Y2Jimmy0?

Is this a joke? What does he mean "or"? Jones AND Hampton have to be the top two pieces in a NYY deal. In no way is Hampton the top piece. A LHS OFer has to be piece 1 (Dominguez/Jones) and then Hampton or Warren and then a good third piece like Lalane or Vivas. LOL at Elias saying no to even Kjerstad.

Westburg as headliner is super lame. At least if Getz comes off Cowser it should be Kjerstad, and then an IFer and then a pitcher of their choice (Povich, McDermott). If we're not getting Kjerstad either, it would need to be a big quantity package.....Westburg, Beavers, Bradfield and at least one of Povich/McDermott and one more.

Bro....there's very little in the way of positive things going on with the team right now. Will it eventually pass? Hopefully but who knows when that will be and when the fanbase is being pelted with nothing but bad developments, the atmosphere on message boards will reflect that. The best way for people to start talking about things other than Cheap Jerry, incompetent Getz and know nothing Pedro is for good things to start happening. It doesn't have to be an avalanche of good things but there have to be some good things. If we can get this damn Cease trade and get a LH savage bat, a good pitching prospect and a very nice third piece that will go a long way to giving people something else to talk about besides negativity. And if we are at ST and it looks like Montgomery is a true stud, Ramos is ready to unseat Moncada, Quero is showing he is almost there and if at least a few of these pitchers we traded for last year look like they can stick in the rotation along with Schultz, I think you'll see things feel much less toxic on boards. The Board is simply a reflection of reality and right now reality sucks. We need good news and by good news I don't mean the return of a 5'6" midget with a 20 power tool.

He's fine as a second piece but not a primary one. Dude is rapidly aging and is right handed. IMO the holdup in this trade are the first and third pieces, not the second. I believe Getz is insisting on Cowser and Elias is offering Kjerstad and Getz wants Povich and Elias is saying no. Just my sense from everything I've seen.

I agree. Jones, Hampton, Lalane/Vivas and a lotto ticket.
