  1. Isn't there also high variation year to year in relievers? So why would we spend big money on multi-year deals for multiple relievers? I mean besides the fact that TLR wanted to get into DeLorean and head back to 1989 baseball?
  2. Lulz @ getting 1 hit by a scrub pitcher and a AAAA team. I'm glad we're "buying" though as one RP and one platoon bat will surely allow us to overcome all the elite clubs in the league.
  3. TLR wanted those guys and he outranks the FO.
  4. At this point all I am asking is don't trade the young savages. I've given up on the thought of a legitimate window because it's a pipe dream.
  5. This is a very good sign that there will be no big moves if Baghdad Scott is saying this. And I'm perfectly fine with going along with the "guys coming back from injury are our acquisitions" charade if it means not trading savages.
  6. But if they waited a couple weeks into next season the full year clock wouldn't start until 2024. Thats what we want....to have him rake for awhile in AA and then maybe promote him in September to AAA but then since he had so little time there in the end of the season he will need a little more time next year to work on some things and then you bring him up. A LH savage with mega power and a howitzer of an arm in RF is extremely valuable for this team, that extra year is critical.
  7. Hasn't Rutherford done sorta OK this year? I'm not opposed to giving him a chance for a few games rather than having 1B and/or clowns in the OF everyday?
  8. Ugh...my stomach is turning.
  9. Dude I'm already practically in tears because I can already feel the young savages slipping away. It wouldn't surprise me one damn bit if they pulled this shit.
  10. This is extremely depressing but the logic is absolutely sound. There is no incentive structure right now for them to think of the long term. The old man and TLR are about to leave the scene and the FO has future employment to worry about. KW/RH's rebuild cannot end up like Al Avila's. They'll sacrifice every young savage for the here and now even if it will obviously end in futility. All they are trying to do right now is save face and just get into the playoffs. Everyone knows this team ain't shit but at least they can say "hey we made it to the playoffs 3 years in a row for the first time ever with back to back division winners....sure we didnt win...but in the playoffs nothing is guaranteed, look at the Dodgers!". There is no realistic plan to actually win a championship, it's just trying to half ass their way back into the postseason and anything beyond that is gravy. Colson Montgomery being a 5 time All Star with Billy Beane's Oakland As with a 370+ career OBP is irrelevant. Oscar Colas becoming a perennial 25-30 HR hitter and left handed savage extraordinaire RHP destroyer for an NL Central club really isn't their problem. Norge Vera who? Oh we can get good Cuban players all the time RH will say. Oh and did you know that young pitchers can break?
  11. This is an 80 grade post. The AL Central winner will do about as well in the playoffs as the AFC Champion did in the Super Bowl from 1984-1996....total, complete and utter sacrificial lamb that will get destroyed even if you add a few pieces here and there.
  12. Prolly at least another month and a half in AA and then maybe dip his feet in the water at AAA in Sept so they can say he still needs more work there next spring for service time.
  13. I'm very fearful now. Do not part with a single LH savage or Vera. No way in hell.
  14. Sox didn't want to bring Vaughn up immediately, they were forced into it due to Jimenez injury and lost a year of service time because of it. There's no reason to burn a year of Colas service time on a garbage team that isn't going anywhere. We can wait until next season so we can preserve the 6.5 years.
  15. If they dump them then it means order has been restored in terms of the line of authority.
  16. I'm perfectly good with moving Cueto, Abreu, Graveman and Lopez. Also move Burger out as well. I wouldn't move Vaughn though. He's the 1B of the future and has 4.5 years of control left. I dont think we will have a 1B/DH logjam after this year. Vaughn will be the 1B and Jimenez the DH. Colas can slide into RF next year so we won't have statues playing there anymore.
  17. Yeah and in fairness, I don't think the issue is the FO. Its JR and TLR who have the power and they aren't invested in the long term at this point so they don't give a damn about a second window. Therefore, I could easily seeing them get rid of savage talents to chase a title that will not happen this year no matter what.
  18. This. Plus Vera. Savages cannot be moved. We're not going to rob Peter to pay Paul when Paul is a mediocre .500 team that will get wrecked in the playoffs by NYY or HOU regardless of who we add. Sell high on Cueto.
  19. OMG...he's had like 5 in what 7-8 games that's incredible. FO will have a tough time getting that extra year of service time at this pace. If this dude can be a 25+ HR guy in the majors from the left side with a howitzer of an arm in RF it would solve so many problems. If Hahn trades him or Montgomery, someone should put his dick in a blender and press start.
  20. You can't stop savagery, you can only hope to contain it.
  21. Good point. The wrist issue no doubt sapped some power for awhile. Now that he's more fully recovered and also apparently made a swing adjustment, his savagery is on full display.
  22. Cease will not resign because of Boras. Anderson will be 32 during his first full FA season and has been probably fuming due to his super cheap deal and will want to get majorly paid. Makes no sense to do that given aging curves and Montgomery (assuming he sticks at SS). Vaughn is a possibility for extension if Jose retires.
