  1. I am getting a real bad feeling about this team right now. Cincy was awful. Now behind again,
  2. Yes, the defense is going to give up some points. It will give up points as the season progresses. It just isn't all that good.
  3. You don't have to be a Twins fan to recognize this. Besides, all the Sox have to do to win their division is win four out of their last seven. That is one over .500. All their games are winnable, too. Hell, they should be able to sweep the Cubs. Just take care of their own business, and they won't have to worry about the Twins. Although I am worried about the Sox offense right now.
  4. As well they should be. One problem is those long drives the defense gives up. You could see the defense running out of gas in the fourth quarter. When you give up a 95-yard scoring drive, you are on the field for a long time. Catches up with you sooner or later. Trubisky looks better, but the offense just isn't consistent. Maybe they will improve enough to score some points against the Falcons.
  5. My thoughts exactly. Defense looked bad that second half as the Giants pass game shredded them. Little or no pressure on the QB. Offense couldn't up any points. Wait till the Bears play a good team. This game should have never have been this close. In fact, they played bad enough to lose.
  6. It is weird. I never thought they would get the baseball season in. If all goes well, and they get the World Series in, that will be a huge accomplishment. People lament that there are no fans, but that had to help. We, as a society, just have to realize that we have to do the best we can, and also realize things will be far from perfect for a time. Do some simple things, and the situation will improve. Stay in denial and things will only linger and more people will die.
  7. There are still people saying masks and social distancing are not necessary. I guess you can ask Herman Cain that after he attended the Trump rally with no mask. Oh, wait. You can't. He's dead. And White House staff have been exposed although the Administration doesn't want to talk about it. Apparently one exposed works in the White House cafeteria. That is really reassuring. Someone working around food has been exposed. Yep. Who needs a mask and social distancing?
  8. I am more concerned about Yoan and Robert right now. You're right about both. Yoan has had physical issues and doesn't look like himself. Robert is a rookie who has run into a tough patch, and who knows when he'll break out of it. This season has been great, but I am concerned about this team's offense right now. I don't expect EE to help much. The division is not a lock.
  9. My only hope is that the Sox clinch the division before the Cubs series. If that happens, Darvsih can throw a no-hitter and the Cubs can win all three for all I would care. I just don't want the Cubs stopping the Sox from winning the division, and I think that is quite possible. Hopefully the Twins will continue losing.
  10. I hesitate to make any real judgements because I don't know the young man and what are the particulars in his situation. I don' think that just because this is a sports situation that it makes it any different. In the end, Kopech has to live with himself one way or another. I also don't know how his teammates feel about him. They seemed to be a happy bunch when they clinched their playoff spot. When I was in my mid-twenties, I made plenty of mistakes. The confidence and experience just wasn't there. The great part of it was when I met my wife. You can keep the rest. Whatever Kopech's situation is, I don't envy him.
  11. I think this says it pretty well. I never liked the hype around Kopech. He was treated as if he was the team savior when he hadn't pitched an inning of major league ball. Hopefully he will be healthy mentally and physically when he does return. However, from the baseball side, there has to be a concern that he has missed two seasons. Regardless, he is still a rookie. Expectations should not be too high. No more hype. Let him learn to be a major league pitcher.
  12. Yes, there is one good reason. There is a pandemic going on. We can still enjoy this especially if the Sox take the division. I know I've enjoyed it so far.
  13. As much as Tim means to this team, Abreu is the MVP on the team and in the league. He means a great deal to this team in so many ways.
  14. You are no doubt right about that. I just felt better saying it.
  15. If the team gets five innings out of Lopez, and the game is still within reach, that would be great. Otherwise, don't feel good about this game. Maybe the offense can have one its big games again.
  16. I have just taken shots for flu and pneumonia. In two weeks, I will get a shot for shingles. I refuse to take any witchcraft vaccine that is meant to come out right at election time. I will not take part in this insanity or anything this fake medicine-man tries to force on the American people.
  17. Expanding the playoffs beyond what it now only makes the season meaningless. I don't want to see the MLB turned into the NBA and NHL. Getting into the playoffs should be a reward for a good season. The system is diluted enough as it is.
  18. Which, in a sense, despite everything, is too bad. When Tim Wiegel was battling cancer, different media persons filled in for him for a job he had on a FM station. One morning I heard this great summation of the sports news. The person was articulate and it was one job that was ultra-professional. I was surprised to realize it was McNeil. He actually sounded brilliant. Too bad he is battling such demons.
  19. I remember McNeil from the 90's. One time he asked Sox fans to call and discuss why they didn't attend more games. Fans called thinking it was going to be a discussion. It wasn't. McNeil belittled everything that was said even if it had some merit. He then cut the caller off and went on to the next caller he would abuse. His arrogance was obvious. So were his anger issues. I actually think McNeil has a great deal of talent, but he can't seem to disagree with people without an angry confrontation. Regarding the tweet, ptatc is right. In this day and age, a public person should know better. We shouldn't have to sit here and debate what his motives were. It was just plain stupid and insensitive. McNeil isn't talking right now, but maybe we will get his side soon. Regardless, it's possible the Score was looking for an excuse to get rid of him, and he gave it to them. I stopped listening to the Score a long time ago for this reason: Hosts would often insult, belittle and even scream at callers. I'm an adult; I am not going to put up with that nonsense. And in any dispute between the fans and any sporting industry, Score hosts always came out against the fans. In reality, I'd like to see McNeil save his career. But he can't say this was a joke or that he is a victim. That is total BS.
  20. Tim Anderson is of one of a generation player, there is no doubt about that. If he keeps his concentration on routine plays, he will turn into a true superstar. He is reflective of this team right now. If you are speaking just about raw talent, this team has it. In fact, in all my many years as a Sox fan, I have never seen a team as talented as this one. Maybe it will finally happen. The White Sox will become a real elite team, and all American League teams will have to realize that, if they want to got to the World Series, they will have to go through Chicago.
  21. I don't know if the fans would share the emotions. Somebody might end up getting their face beaten in, though.
  22. I'll second this. The sign of a good team is winning these low scoring games. They can't hit the ball out every game.
  23. I'd take a split. Twins gain nothing and games are knocked off the schedule. But I'd really like the Sox to make a statement in this series, not only for this season but for the next. Keep the Twins in the ballpark and you can take three of four. Love to have this first one. Let them know who is in first.
  24. The chances for a Sox-Cubs series are decent, but I don't think it will happen. And I am with you. I don't ever want to see it happen. Something like that should be fun, but it won't be. Too much of a chance for violence. Besides, I don't ever want to see the Cubs in a World Series again. 2016 was a nightmare for so many as everybody seemed to lay down for them. Besides, the Cubs being in the Series just doesn't seem right. It will never seem right.
